My son is not quite ten months old yet, and just took his first steps yesterday *tear.* Up until this point, he’s worn shoes infrequently and only as an accessory to his outfit. While he still won’t be walking outside this winter, he needed some shoes to keep his feet warm for these rough Ohio temperatures.

My son is off-the-charts for height (way, way off the charts,) and about 95th percentile for weight. He’s a big guy! He’s wearing 18 month clothing and a shoes size 5-6.

Anyone that has been out shopping for baby shoes knows, they aren’t cheap. A pair of shoes for a baby will run you nearly the cost that you’d pay for your own pair of shoes. On top of that, they are often picked over, or difficult to get on. Lacing a shoe on a baby? Yeah right– not happening in my household.

So I really struggled to find shoes for Lucas. I wanted something cheap, comfortable, and over everything else, warm. I finally found these booties called Scootie Booties on Amazon. Good reviews, around $10, and Velcro. They come in various color combinations for both sexes. I ordered them, and was so thrilled with my purchase when it arrived two days later.

These are fleece on the exterior, and lined cotton inside. They open to have a rather large in-step opening, making it incredibly easy to slide your LO’s foot in. Velcro the tabs together, and you’re set. The elastic band around the ankle makes it easy to wrap this around the child’s ankle, but also keep their foot snug.

My son has worn these both as slippers around the house and outside (again, he’s not walking. These shoes would not work for babies that are walking on the ground, because the bottoms are fleece.) Not once have they fallen off, and they take seconds to put on and take off. They also easily machine wash!

Great little booties, and I plan on ordering more. I highly recommend them to anyone with a little one that needs some pre-walker shoes!
