A Perfect Alternative to Plastic Tableware: Brinware

When shopping for tableware for children, you’re bombarded with plastic everything. Plastic plates, plastic cups, plastic silverware. It’s all plastic. But you don’t know what’s in that plastic. Most of it is now BPA free, which I’m guessing makes it safer but you still can’t microwave it and I personally wouldn’t put hot food on a plastic plate in case it melts the plate or the plastic seeps into the food. We all know glass is safer. I wish I would have went the glass bottle route with my little ones, but the risk of breaking them and the cost really pushed me away. But glass tableware for little ones doesn’t really make a lot of sense, does it? Toddlers and glass do not mix. But Brinware changes that. I recently had the opportunity to review a few of their products and I am in love with them!

Brinware makes beautiful tempered glass plates ($19.99 for a set of 2, $11.99 for 1) that are super strong and durable. The plates come with a colorful food-grade silicone sleeve to protect the plate even more and prevent it from slipping. My toddler actually grabbed the plate (without the sleeve) and dropped it as I was washing dishes and it didn’t break! I was completely impressed. It’s a 7.5″ round plate that is dishwasher safe and microwavable, which is important to me. I get really frustrated when I can’t microwave my daughter’s food on her “pretty colored” plates as she calls them, so I have to transfer her food from a microwavable safe plate to her plastic plate (toddlers are picky). Brinware plates eliminate the need to do that since the plates can be microwaved. I also love the silicone sleeves, as they help protect my hands from hot plates, prevent slipping and keep the safe, not to mention all of the bright color choices! There fun designs on each plate and the sleeve really makes them pop!

I also received two food-grade silicone placemats ($16.99 for a set of 2) to try with the plates. We have a few different placemats, some are silicone, some are plastic, some are laminated mats that I found at the Dollar Store. None of them compare to these Brinware placemats. I know, I know. It’s just a placemat. But when it comes to messy kids (and my OCD), we use placemats at every meal and want them to make my life easier, not harder. These mats definitely do that! They’re 11” x 15” so they’re big enough for even the messiest of eaters. Each set comes with an alphabet mat and a number mat and come in the same colors as the plate sleeves (yay for matching!). My favorite thing about these mats: they do not move! It’s like they suction to the table or something, they just stay put! I love that the mats roll up easily for storage and travel, are super easy to clean, and they don’t retain odors!

I give Brinware a 5 out of 5 stars. I am completely impressed with both the plates and placemats, I will definitely be getting more of both so we have enough to use when friends come over for playdates! I love that the plates are free of toxins and aren’t harmful.
