Finn + Emma {Review}

www-finnandemma-com

Pajamas are a huge deal in our house. My girls love their pajamas. It’s not easy to get them changed into regular clothes in the morning to start their day. They’d live in them if they could, but honestly, who wouldn’t? I know I would if I could. Jammies are so warm, cozy, and comfortable, pretty much everything I look for in everyday clothes! I recently had the opportunity to review an amazing modern organic children’s clothing brand, Finn + Emma. These are some of the coziest jams ever and they just keep getting softer with every wash!

While Finn + Emma offers a lot more than just pajamas, I had to try them first! All of their products are made of the finest organic cotton, with eco friendly dyes, and natural wood. As if Finn + Emma isn’t awesome enough, already, all of their garments and accessories are produced in fair trade settings that focus on social and economic pajamas-fairytale_grandeindependence for local people. I love companies that offer people fair wages and helps them provide a life for themselves and their families. Finn + Emma is a balance of stylish and sustainability and I love it!

The jams I picked out for my girls not only matched, but the print and colors went together perfectly! I’m not usually one for matching my 9 month old and my 4 year old, but when the clothes are this cute, I couldn’t deny my twin-mom fantasy any longer and had to get them to match! The Fairytale print is adorable and not only available in footies for littles and 2 piece sets for older kids, but a ton of matching clothing pieces, accessories, play gyms, and toys are available to complete this beautiful collection

I have to give Finn + Emma jams 5 out of 5 stars! They’re so incredibly soft and luxurious, I’m kind of jealous! I really hope adult jammies will be available in the future, I will definitely buy a few pairs for myself! Check out all of the awesome products, like fairytale-coverall-closeup-495x495clothing and toys, Finn + Emma have to offer here. There’s something for everyone, on any budget. I can’t wait to buy more of their adorable clothes for my girls and gift some of their wooden toys to my expecting friends!

Be sure to follow Finn + Emma on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest for new releases, sales, and more!

Shēdo Lane UV Apparel // SwimZip’s Sister Company {Product Review}

15220218_224136411345644_2384897757045487509_n

I know summer clothing might not be on our minds, but the warm weather is certainly on mine! I am currently staring outside at a few inches of snow and a temperature that is well below my age. I do much better with the warmer months. If some sunset-beach-chairs-stock-footage.jpgof you are thinking about taking a weekend to the beach, I want to introduce you to some butter soft kids’ clothes!

We aren’t planning a trip to the beach any time soon, but these polos are making some adorable layering pieces for my little man this winter.

Shēdo Lane is a brand new sister company of SwimZip (as seen on ABC’s Shark Tank), and I am so excited to be introducing and sharing them with our readers! logo.png

Shēdo Lane is a luxury sun protection apparel brand. Utilizing the highest rated, UPF 50+, UV sun protective fabric in complimenting styles, they bring sun protection clothing to its highest form.  Whether it is a morning walk on the beach, a playdate at a favorite playground, an afternoon cup of tea on the patio, or drinks with friends around the pool, Shēdo Lane keeps you covered from the sun’s rays – and looking your best. Shēdo Lane sun protective apparel brings together the function and fashion – so you can indulge in the sun and get on with living your dreams!image2_grande.jpg

We received a toddler 2T polo and found that it runs a little larger than a Carter’s 2T. It fits my little linebacker just fine because he’s so stalky, but on a slender taller toddler, it would be a little baggy.

The material is made from bamboo and it is soft as butter! I seriously wish all kids’ clothes were made this soft and supple. Perfect for snuggling, but stylish enough to wear on a night out! IPhoto087_300dpi.jpg have washed them multiple times and they don’t shrink or lose their shape in any way!

Not only do they offer toddler clothes, but they have clothes for adults!  Who doesn’t want to match their little one? I know I think it’s adorable! I have been eying the cardigan for woman and I will probably be putting it on some sort of wish list for my hubby! I have a feeling I will never want to buy any other brand of shirts!

My only complaint is that the clothes are priced a little high for babies and little ones. One polo is $25. For an adult, I would definitely pay that, but not for a simple toddler shirt. The adult clothes are priced well though. The cardigan I was talkingphoto41_300dpi about is only $40 which is pretty average for a woman’s shirt.

Overall, I have to give Shēdo Lane a 4 out of 5 stars! I can’t stop scrolling through their website, looking at all their comfy clothes! Baby clothes are seriously my weakness.

Have fun shopping!

Be sure to check out this awesome, family-owned company on Facebook and Instagram!

Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent {Review}

When you have kids, you want to find the best possible products to use on and around them. You don’t want unnecessary chemicals and synthetic materials to be used around your precious little ones, whether it’s cleaning supplies, skin care products or something as simple as laundry detergent. I never really put much thought into the type of 41d4UiaXwwL._AC_UL320_SR198,320_detergent I was using until I was given a few samples of Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent right before my youngest was born. It made me rethink (and ultimately switch laundry soaps) what I was using to wash our clothes with.

Seventh Generation’s laundry detergent is awesome. It allows me to wash all of our clothes together, including my infant and toddler’s clothing. Because it is so gentle, I feel really good about washing my baby’s clothing in a detergent that gets her clothing clean and keeps her clothes free of harmful chemicals. Seventh Generation laundry detergent comes in several different types of soap (in liquid or powder form), including a new detergent specifically meant for baby’s delicate skin (which I love a million times more than Dreft, as I cannot stomach it’s strong fragrance). It cleans in all water temperatures and it has enzymes that lift stubborn stains, which we all know are inevitable with babies and kids (and adults, too).

IT’S NATURAL!Seventh-Generation-logo

  • Designed for Standard and HE machines
  • Free of dyes & synthetic fragrances
  • USDA Certified Biobased 97%
  • Supports sustainable palm oil
  • Works in all temperatures
  • 2x concentrated formula
  • Hypoallergenic

I give it a 5 out of 5 stars. I was impressed from the very first wash and have been a customer ever since. If you want a detergent that is truly harmless for your family, Seventh Generation is the way to go. And it works, which is what we all want in the end: fresh clean clothes for the whole family. It keeps clothes clean and our skin free of harmful chemicals. It’s a win-win for everyone! Click here order Seventh Generation detergent online or find out where to buy in-store here!seventh-generation-products-amazon-warehouse

Be sure to follow Seventh Generation on Instagram, on Facebook and on Twitter! And don’t forget to check out all of Seventh Generation’s family-friendly products here! I also only use their plant-based natural hand soaps, the fresh lemon & tea tree scent is to die for! Seventh Generation also makes Free & Clear diapers and baby wipes and I have to say, the diapers are very absorbent and the wipes are nice and thick, they’re great at cleaning up yucky messes!

Keen Shoes!

Okay, my hope here is that someone else has a toddler with giant feet.

My son is 16 months old and wearing a size 7/8 shoe. (WHAT.) Also, he has a huge instep, which makes it insanely hard to find shoes that I can wiggle his chubby feet into.

And we’ll get something else out into the open here: Toddler shoes, though a fraction of the size of adult shoes, cost the same amount. Sometimes more, infrequently less. It’s shocking.

I am guessing I’ll end up spending a few hundred dollars on shoes before Lucas is even a few years old. Thankfully, they usually have minimal wear and I can pass the shoes on to his cousin.

download.pngSo my dilemma: I bought MANY shoes, and couldn’t find any that were easy enough to get on and also comfortable/stylish. Thankfully, I was introduced to Keen and found some amazing, quality shoes for my guy. I ordered from Moosejaw, because their customer service is phenomenal and their selection is pretty vast.

Meet the Encanto Sneaker Shoe! Made with elastic ties, Velcro, and breathable mesh. Really good, quality shoes that I’m sure can withstand a ton of play time. The Encanto shoe comes in a few colors, but I loved this scarlet and gray combo (O-H!)

My son loves them. Runs in them, plays in them, and they don’t hurt his feet.

Need a pair? Head over and grab them!

Thanks to Keen for solving my troubles. These shoes will run you $50 or so, unlIMG_2844.JPGess you can find them on sale. But they are totally worth it, and I bought them in a size up so that Lucas has some room to grow. Great purchase, and I’ll be heading back to Keen for our next pair.

Aden + Anais Baby Clothes {Review}

Aden + Anais is famous for their amazing natural muslin blankets. Seriously, they make the softest swaddles and blankets I have ever felt. They are so popular, I bet if you have ADENBYAA-01had a baby shower, you most likely were gifted at least one Aden + Anais product. Over the years, A + A really expanded their product line, from bedding for babies and toddlers to bibs and burp cloths to skin care products to towels and washcloths (check out all of their products here). Every single one of their products have left me feeling nothing but impressed. But my favorite product they have released is their baby apparel. Yes, the muslin fabric that makes their blankets so absolutely fabulous now makes up their beautiful baby clothes! We reached out to A + A a few weeks ago and they kindly sent me a few outfits for me to try (and ultimately fall in love with) on my 3 month old and review them for Burrito Buzz.

I was sent a beautiful romper, a short sleeve kimono onesie, smock top and ruffle bloomers from their little girl’s line, but there are several other pieces, including a one IMG_5855piece short sleeve kimono, long sleeve kimono onesie, jersey pants, muslin pants, hoodie, tunic, tank top bodysuit and long sleeve zipper one piece. All of their clothes are available in sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months and 9-12 months (hopefully the line will be available in bigger sizes soon so toddlers can enjoy them!) and fit true to size in my opinion. I washed the clothing as soon as I received them and they of course came out of the dryer even softer, as they will with each wash thanks to the awesome muslin. The muslin is breathable which is definitely needed during hot and humid Ohio summers and because my baby is a little furnace – she’s always so warm. The romper’s straps are also adjustable which I love, so baby can wear it all summer without outgrowing. There is a little bit of spandex (turning their muslin into a super fabric!) added to the fabric to allow for some stretch which is the perfect amount for always-on-the-move babies.

Caring for A + A clothing is super easy. Wash with like colors in warm water, tumble dry on low. There’s no need to iron or dry clean. Easy peasy! They also offer the FullSizeRender (29)cutest prints! From bright stripes in pink or blue, to bright stars in pink or blue, little hearts and butterflies and a gray star – the perfect gender neutral print. There are several other prints and a few solids to chose from and all of them are simply beautiful!

If I could, I would give Aden + Anais clothing a 6 out of 5 stars. My expectations have been exceeded. The quality is superb but it is to be expected with such an amazing company. I feel like the pieces are timelessly stunning and will definitely be saved to pass down to my girls’ children and hopefully their children. The one and only problem I can find is the price. The pieces range from $14.95 (bloomers) to $34.95 (hoodie) which is expensive to me. I’m a stay-at-home mom with 2 little ones trying to survive on one income, so it would be very hard to outfit my little one in A + A clothing on a regular basis.. unless they are on sale because I live for sales!

Be sure to follow Aden + Anais on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook!

The Registry Items BurritoBuzz Moms Can’t Live Without!

I don’t know about you, but I loved doing my baby registry! I was so excited to plan and prepare for my baby! Well, as months passed after BK#1 arrived, I realized I had forgotten a few items! Even worse, seeing a friend have one item that does what 10 of yours does!

The BurritoBuzz moms got together and compiled a list of “must have” items that we just couldn’t live without!

BurritoBuzzRegistryB&D.png

NURSERY 3Z-Neutral-Nursery

Rock N Play – A sleeper that is inclined to help with reflux, rocks to soothe back to sleep, portable to move from room to room, vibrates, and the cover is machine washable! All of our moms have used this and would purchase it again! MUST for those first few months.

Pack n play with a bassinet – Like a Graco Play yard. It’s great alternative instead of a typical bassinet in your room. You have changing table, storage, and bed all right there.

Aden and Anais Swaddles – Get them from a Boutique near you so you get the high quality. {Boutiques get the ones that are bigger and thicker than the ones in a chain store.}

BATH & DAIPERING Honest-Diapers-preview.jpg

A&D Diaper cream It works for everything! Prevents and soothes diaper rash!

Boppy changing pad linersThese are AMAZING! It’s a waterproof liner to put on top of your pretty pad cover! Pee or poo mess? Just toss it in the wash! So much nicer than having to buy multiple covers.

Diapers – Buy more than you think you need, and put every size on your registry!

BurritoBuzzGear.pngGEAR 4e22c8d190bb67b13738a150f01329b2a44687ba57a641eed395734335c4d99b.jpg

Diaper Bag– We all have our favorites, but be sure to get one with a lot of space and pockets. Back pack style is a life saver if you have more than one child!

SwingThe Fisher Price Swing is great! Its mobile, small, entertaining, and keeps a fussy baby happy! By far my favorite swing on the market, and it’s much cheaper than most!

Infant to Toddler Chair– One like this is a must. Your baby will love sitting in anything that is not theirs, and having something that is safe for them is important! The swings and newborn items are essential, but aren’t safe after 20 or so pounds.

Good Monitor – This is not an item you want to cheap out on. The cheap ones are just that- CHEAP! They don’t last, and you will be kicking yourself when it dies in 6 months. I have tired multiple simple radio monitors, video “baby” monitors, and we have finally found our favorite! It’s the GE wireless Monitor. We have cameras in two rooms, it’s still a radio frequency (no creeps hacking in this house), and its works great!

Infant Carrier Car Seat -30 + lbs.! When you have a 3 month old that is 20 lbs. chances are you don’t feel comfortable putting them in a convertible car seat, and if the weather if cold and gross you don’t want them exposed to the elements. Finding a higher end seat that will last,  is well worth your money.

Car mirrorThese have been a life saver! Neither of my kids like the car! If they start getting fussy I can click the garage door-like button and start some music and lights to distract them! We bought one two years ago, and another when BK#2 was born and I seriously can’t live without!

Stroller – You will want one that is sturdy and that has varying levels of height for your baby! A click and connect stroller is nice, because it lasts from birth to 50 lbs!

Soft structured Carrier. – Baby wearing has saved our lives! Skin to skin soothes any baby! it helps with reflux, lets you get things done….The list goes on for days. Tula is one of our favorites!

BurritoBuzzCare&Play.png

Baby Care & Play FarmPhoto_large

Gas drops – alcohol free gas drops! Little remedies works wonders!

Natural body wash and lotion –The more you read the more you will hate buying the popular lines of things for your child! I promise! Check out this post to find out more!

Teethers – Teething is a nightmare. Put a dozen different types on your registry, and literally have dozens, because you will want them everywhere, and you will want to wash them daily!

Taggy – Taggy’s soothe my babies so easily! They are cute, easy to pop in the wash, and make the baby happy! Taggies Pal and Taggies lovey are our favorites!

BurritoBuzzFeeding.jpgFEEDING df7fe0bd6d980024cf8cd63b0f2cf6b8.jpg

Lanolin – Lansinoh brand is the best you can get! If you are planning on nursing be sure to stock up. You can read more why here.

Nursing Pillow– Even if you are not nursing, a “nursing” pillow is great for feeding, propping and play!

Bottles –MAM seem to be the unanimous favorite! They are a little bit pricey, but start there to alleviate/ prevent any type of reflux.

PacifierSoothie or MAM (These MAM ones glow in the dark! If your baby will take them try them first!)  are the favorites around here! I said I never wanted my babies to have them….I quickly changed my mind at 3 am day 4 of my first baby. I promise they wont go to college with them, and with some tough love in a year you can break them of it!

Burp clothsGerber diapers! If you have a baby that spits up at all the “burp clothes” are more like wash cloths,  and don’t do ANYTHING! Save yourself time and money, and just buy the diapers. They are white, so if you need to you can bleach them, and they are super absorbent!

Breast PumpsManual single (for on the go) and Double electric –Medela. The BurritoBuzz mommas have tried multiple brands and we will just save you time and money and tell you ITS NOT WORTH IT buying the cheaper ones! And 99.9% of the time your insurance will cover one!

Medela hands free pump bra – If you are a working mother this is crucial! You tend to only get a 15 minute break to pump in, and that tends not to be enough! This is a time saver! You can hook up, eat, check your email, or even just sit at your desk and pump if you have your own office! (When I worked when BK#1 was little,  I made a sign like this to hang on my office door, so I didn’t even have to think about someone walking in!)BurritoBuzzClothing.jpg

CLOTHING Baby-Clothes-Nursery-Organization-71

Halo sleep sack – IF your baby is like mine, he hated being swaddled, but also hated being cold! This is a life saver!

Zip up nighties – I am not sure why they even make button ones. Don’t buy them, and ask people NOT to buy them. GET THE ZIP UP ones! In the middle of the night you wont want to fumble with the buttons, and when you see that you missed one you wont care, but then you will go fix your sleeping baby in fear they will get a draft and be cold. These for example!

Socks– There are simply never enough! They get lost so much easier than adult socks.

Onsies – I put them under most outfits to keep the baby warm and cozy!

Mitts– I hated the way these looked, but the first time your baby scratches themselves in the face you will never go without a baby mitt!

untitled (13)*More clothes than you think you will need* <<< And take a look at sizing before you start buying clothes. Its super frustrating, and if you know before hand it will make it a little easier to shop for your LO.

I can almost guarantee we forgot something, but we went over this list multiple times and between the 5 of us you should be covered!!

Be sure to use a good checklist when making your first registry, so you don’t forget the basics that we might not have mentioned!

What was your favorite baby item? What did you have to go buy that you didn’t get?

Honey Huggers {Product review}

71b9c30a9c59a5e9a62406dc1b1fc6f3_1024x1024.jpg

The moms here at BurritoBuzz recently connected with Honey Huggers, and two of us tried out their padded leg warmers. You can find them on social media or their website. They have man different styles, and a few different products to choose from.

96239f081c1cb733cc369327b44a6bb4.jpg

Pros: These padded leg warmers are ADORABLE! All of the patterns you can choose from are pretty stinkin’ cute, and I would have been happy with any of them! They are very soft and stretchy, and don’t need worn in to be comfortable for your baby.

Most of the patterns offered are gender neutral, so they’re perfect for hand-me-downs.

Made in the USA!

Fit is great for slender babies.

They wash and dry very nicely. They kept their shape and didn’t fade.

One of the little babes who tried out this product isn’t quite crawling, but the little padded knees on the Honey Huggers are providing him enough traction to be up on his knees longer before he collapses. He should be crawling before we know it with their help!

Cons:  When we were talking with Honey Huggers they were talking about adding another size, and we believe that is a must! Even though they stretch and you can make them fit, it’s not a comfortable fit. cee5b2db8e3f850f535ff95cac261e91_1024x1024.jpgThey slide down to the baby’s knees the second they start crawling, if you have a larger baby. We kind of wish the padded knees could just be added to a pair of pants for our chunky babies!

Several of us mommies have recently tackled potty training with our little ones or are doing it presently. If Honey Huggers does add another bigger size of leg warmer, it’d be perfect for our toddlers too! Not having worry about getting pants down with undies to go potty would be really nice! Right now, its just too cold to let them go in their birthday suit.

Overall, we give this product 3 out of 5 stars. We think it’s a great idea for new baby crawlers out there, but has room for improvement with the sizing. One thing is for sure: they’re super cute!

The Honey Huggers website also offers leg warmers without the pads, bibdanas, and bundles with both. Right now the unpadded leg warmers are only $6!HoneyHuggersGoogleInstadeal_330e1f8f-0e8a-47db-ba95-84560ae76896_1024x1024.jpg

Scooties Booties {Product Review}

My son is not quite ten months old yet, and just took his first steps yesterday *tear.* Up until this point, he’s worn shoes infrequently and only as an accessory to his outfit. While he still won’t be walking outside this winter, he needed some shoes to keep his feet warm for these rough Ohio temperatures.

My son is off-the-charts for height (way, way off the charts,) and about 95th percentile for weight. He’s a big guy! He’s wearing 18 month clothing and a shoes size 5-6.

Anyone that has been out shopping for baby shoes knows, they aren’t cheap. A pair of shoes for a baby will run you nearly the cost that you’d pay for your own pair of shoes. On top of that, they are often picked over, or difficult to get on. Lacing a shoe on a baby? Yeah right– not happening in my household.

So I really struggled to find shoes for Lucas. I wanted something cheap, comfortable, and over everything else, warm. I finally found these booties called Scootie Booties on Amazon. Good reviews, around $10, and Velcro. They come in various color combinations for both sexes. I ordered them, and was so thrilled with my purchase when it arrived two days later.

These are fleece on the exterior, and lined cotton inside. They open to have a rather large in-step opening, making it incredibly easy to slide your LO’s foot in. Velcro the tabs together, and you’re set. The elastic band around the ankle makes it easy to wrap this around the child’s ankle, but also keep their foot snug.

My son has worn these both as slippers around the house and outside (again, he’s not walking. These shoes would not work for babies that are walking on the ground, because the bottoms are fleece.) Not once have they fallen off, and they take seconds to put on and take off. They also easily machine wash!

Great little booties, and I plan on ordering more. I highly recommend them to anyone with a little one that needs some pre-walker shoes!

-Katie

My baby is… not that size.

I don’t know if you’re anything like me, but I was seriously shocked by how different sizing was between infant brands. I should have assumed as much, seeing as women’s clothing sizes don’t mean much of anything. So after my baby shower for Lucas, I washed all of his new clothes and put them in the closet by size (thinking I was so smart for being so organized before he came. HA. Ohhh the time I wasted trying to organize.) When it came time for him to wear certain outfits, some were too small and some were too large. The ones that were too small really irritated me, because that meant that he never got to wear them and I was already packing them up for storage (if I have any real tip as far as clothing goes, it’s to keep your receipts and don’t wash everything. Keep those tags on and just wash enough for your LO to wear when they get home from the hospital. You’ll be able to trade clothing for what you need then. Most stores have a decently lenient policy on store credit/trade.)

The biggest offender? Gerber. Indefinitely. I have no respect for you, Gerber. You make crap products. (Gerber really used to be the ideal image for infant products. What happened? I’m unenthused about everything they make these days, and their clothing is no exception.)

Gerber outfits not only ran small, but also shrunk like crazy when washed. Some of the 3-6 month clothing that I had purchased for Lucas looked premie-sized by the time it made its way through the wash. Putting Lucas in his “correct” size Gerber outfit always looked similar to me trying to fit into skinny jeans on Thanksgiving day. Poor kid.

I’ve found Carter’s and Baby Gap to be the most true-to-size (and comfortable for my LO! Super soft cotton, and really minimal shrinking after laundered.) I buy mostly Carter’s.

Let’s be honest: Infant clothes cost almost the same as full-sized adult clothes. I buy myself clothing very infrequently. Seeing those tiny human clothes being worn for a few short weeks, and then packing them up in like-new condition is hard to stomach (especially if you’re pretty frugal like we are.) You’d better believe I’m the mom stretching baby clothes to the max before drying them.

What we need is a universal sizing system for infant clothes. Our LOs are not all the same, and “3-6 months” doesn’t actually mean 3-6 months most of the time. My LO wore tiny clothes for a while, and then all of the sudden was SO stinking long and in 9 month clothing (at like 4 months.) Now he’s nearly 9 months old and wearing 18 months. Hello, something is wrong with this system. So major-brand companies, if you’re reading this, we need pounds and inches on these tags. And how about you all have a lunch meeting together and bond over some Chipotle and baby sizing to decide on a universal system.

Here is a chart to help you navigate sizing:
