Baby in Tow: Spoon Cocoon {Review}

Hey Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and caregivers of all kinds – have you ever been super frustrated out in public when it comes time to feed the little one in your life? I know that I have, on multiple occasions. I either can’t find my feeding utensils in the depths of my big, dark diaper bag, they have fallen on the ground in the process of finding them or I just forgot to bring them altogether. I’m about to introduce you to a product that will make feeding our little one out in public a little less aggravating. It is the Spoon Cocoon from Baby in Tow.

206283835001202_orig

Spoon Cocoon is an infant feeding spoon that comes with a caterpillar-shaped travel container. It is such a neat little product and it can be used with most all other infant feeding utensils, even your child’s toothbrush! The caterpillar case also do71Rvd7CVnQL._SY679_ubles as an adorable little toy for your little one.

More perks:

  1. BPA Free!
  2. PVC Free!
  3. Environmentally friendly for more than one reason. 1. The Spoon Cocoon is made of recycled plastic. 2. I know I used plastic bags to carry utensils for my kids when we went out, so this product eliminates that waste!
  4. Caterpillar-shaped case twists on and off with ease, but not too easily. It feels tightly closed and secure when it’s twisted on.
  5. The case and bright color makes finding the spoon in the bottom of the diaper bag so much easier.
  6. The green color is gender neutral! Baby in Tow plans to release additional colors in the future.

Our family gives this product 5 out of 5 stars. It is super sweet and simple, but a necessity for on-the-go parents and caregivers. It would be a perfect registry item or shower gift for any mom-to-be. You can purchase it on Amazon here: Spoon Cocoon.

Be sure to check out Baby in Tow’s website to learn more about the Spoon Cocoon.

b.box bottle + dispenser {Review}

When it comes to babies and kids, convenience is absolutely necessary. When leaving the house with baby, the diaper bag needs packed with entirely way too much stuff to feed baby (bottles, formula, burp cloths), change baby (clothing, diapers, wipes), skin care (sunscreen, diaper cream, lotion) and the list goes on and on. My diaper bag is so heavy and bulky because it pretty much houses everything from my little one’s nursery except for her crib. The two things I can’t leave the house without are bottles and formula. I had the opportnity to try out and review the b.box bottle + dispenser which is ideal for parents on the go!

bbox_logo_with_bird_RGB

The b.box bottle + dispenser is a curved bottle with a formula dispenser attached to it. It is innovative for parents who formula feed! It’s also super easy to use and so convenient. Before leaving the house, add formula to the dispenser (the bottom has a cap that twists off, add formula and then put the cap back on) and attach to the bottle and add water. When baby is ready to eat, you twist the bottom of the dispenser and a piece twists through the bottom of the bottle and dispenses the formula. Just shake and feed! There is also a cap that can be put on the bottom of the bottle once the formula is dispensed or you can choose to use it as a conventional bottle. b-box-bottle-colorsb.box bottles are BPA, Phthalates and PVC free.

I packed it the other night when we went out to dinner to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday. My little one was a screaming mess for some reason (I think she’s teething) so I pulled the b.box bottle from my diaper bag, twisted the bottom to dispense the formula and started to shake it to mix it. Formula started leaking everywhere from the bottom! All over my baby’s face and my face. I made sure when I put the bottle together that all of the pieces were correctly placed and the dispenser was tight, so I’m not sure what the issue was. However, I used it three times since then and had ZERO leakage!

The bottle has so many pieces that have to be washed thoroughly after every feeding. So for me, the bottle + dispenser will only be used when leaving the house and just the bottle (without dispenser) will be used throughout the night or for a regular feeding during the day. It is a really awesome product, so innovative and really makes things easier when out and about with your little one. I give the b.box bottle + dispenser a 4 out of 5 stars, only because of the occasional leaking from the bottom and because of the amount of pieces and time it takes to wash the bottle + dispenser after every feeding (it is more time consuming compared to regular bottles).The price point is a little high at $20. I would like to see it a come down a bit. b.box has a ton of awesome producs for baby, be sure to check out all of their products here!

Aden + Anais Bath Products {Review}

I was so excited to learn that BurritoBuzz would be working with Aden + Anais, a company I have been a customer of since I became pregnant with my first child nearly 4 years ago. Back then, I knew A + A for their super soft muslin swaddle blankets. I loved them, my kids loved the81psQHPiQyL._SX522_m and they have held up all this time. I could not wait to try their other products.

Casey, a fellow BurritoBuzz mom, and I chose to try items from their baby skincare line. The Hair + Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Ultra-Gentle Lotion were items we sampled. I also received a set of washcloths and a toddler bath towel. So far, all of the products are fabulous. My kids have been happy with them, my husband has used them and loves them, and I know I will for sure continue to use them.

Here’s the rundown:

The Hair + Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Ultra-Gentle Lotion were all developed by leading New York dermatologist Ellen Gendler, MD and are naturally derived. Each one is tear-free and lightly scented, which I found to be completely accurate. I really loved the light, clean fresh scent of each product and the scent lasts. Baby’s hair smells so good for 41x4X2FrLYLhours after bathtime. These products are free of phthalates, parabens, BPA, gluten and soy. Buy the lotion and body wash together on Amazon here.

Hair + Body Wash – First of all, any bath soap that comes with the pump is already an A+ in my book. It is so easy having that pump when you’re bathing two toddlers rather than having to pick up and pour soap into your washcloth. Aden + Anais put their soap and lotion both bottled with the pump. I’ll be honest, my husband usually bathes our kids, so I had him try out the Hair + Body Wash immediately. We have been trying out other soaps ever since our baby shower supply ran out. We haven’t really found any that we absolutely love, but A + A comes close! My husband said the soap “made a good lather.” It is moisturizing and gentle on my little ones’ skin which is necessary. We do use conditioner on my daughter’s hair quite often, so I can’t honestly say if this shampoo on its own would be moisturizing enough for h71Ad9wUyIdL._SY679_er. I may have to buy the conditioner as well! On Amazon, you can find Hair + Body Wash in a 12 oz bottle for under $15.95.

Bubble Bath – My kids both love bubbles of any kind. Honestly, who doesn’t love a good bubble bath every once in awhile? Very simply pour 1 to 3 capfuls of the Bubble Bath directly under running water. Bath time was fresh and clean with the added bubble and my little ones loved it. It was also moisturizing to their skin. You can buy it here: Aden + Anais Bubble Bath.

Ultra-Gentle Lotion – I’m not embarrassed to say I used the lotion on myself. Don’t judge! Since I’ve gotten some sun lately, my skin has been dry so I thought that’d be a true test of this lotion. I knew I already loved the scent, so why not? It worked like a charm! I loved that it wasn’t greasy like many lotions I’ve used. The scent is refreshing but not overpowering. I will continue to use it daily, especially in the winter months and on my babies. Amazon has Ultra-Gentle Lotion for less than 20 dollars also or you can get it bundled with the Hair + Body Wash.

Toddler Bath Towel – This is the A + A product I was most excited to try. I don’t know about you, but infant/baby towels infuriate me. Most are so small and thin, barely dry my child and leave them shivering. This towel is legit. It’s nearly the size of an adult towel (50” x 30”) and super soft. The towel is made of pre-washed cotton and muslin, making it plush and soft. It washed up well for me and it81VdceQVBjL._SX522_‘s the perfect size for both my 3 year old and 1 year old. It keeps them dry, warm and is gentle to their skin. I don’t have to worry about it being too small like most hooded towels, but it’s not too bulky either. The Toddler Towel can be found on Amazon for $29.95.

Classic Washcloth – I also received a set of three 100% cotton muslin washcloths. The washcloths are pre-washed just like other products by Aden + Anais, so they get softer wash after wash. They washed up with ease and seem to be durable (I have only washed them twice). They even have a convenient loop, so the washcloth can be hung to dry between each use. I will say, the washcloths are quite large for babies/toddlers (12” x 12”), so they take some getting used to but you can’t beat that soft muslin fabric across their delicate skin. The set of three is available on Amazon for $20.00. You can find it by going here: Classic Washcloth.

Although the price point for these Aden + Anais products may seem high, I promise you, the quality is there. The washcloths and towels come in the most adorable prints (I received Fluro BIMG_6948lue), and some of the prints are perfect for gender neutral gifts. I know I
will be on the lookout for sales and clearance so I can continue to buy these products and others from A + A.

Aden + Anais definitely receives a 5 out of 5 stars from my family and I for the bath products and towels. After sampling, I had to get on Aden + Anais’ site and check out the rest of their bath time and skin care line. You can check it out right here!

A big Thank You to Aden + Anais for the opportunity to review their products! Be sure to follow A + A on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook!

pureWash Pro {Review}

Over the course of the last several weeks, my family and I have been sampling the pureWash Pro distributed by GreenTech. I reached out to pureWash via Twitter because I was curious about their product and its benefits to my household. I, along with the other BurritoBuzz Moms, am always interested in new technology, especially products that can improve the efficiency of my home. Since I contacted pureWash, they have been nothing but easy to work with and it is true with their product as well. I was skeptical of it at first, but it has continued to surprise me!

product2-1.38.40-PM-compressor

What is pureWash Pro?

“pureWash is an environmentally friendly appliance designed to work with your residential washing machine, adding enhanced oxygen and Photo Catalytic Oxidizers to the cold water supply. Water treated by pureWash aids in cleaning laundry and killing bacteria without leaving residual detergent in the fabric.”

How is pureWash installed?

My husband installed our pureWash Pro with ease shortly after we received it. It simply hooks up to the cold water supply that normally runs to your washing machine. We have a traditional top loading washing machine, but pureWash can be installed to any model. pureWash needs to be attached to a secure surface at installation to ensure it remains stable and level for its usage. My husband attached ours to the shelving unit next to our washing machine, using the mounting bracket that was included.

Once pureWash is installed, it’s ready to use! Easy, right? Simply operate your washing machine like you normally would. The only difference with using the pureWash is that you can only use the cold water setting to experience the benefits of the pureWash. “If hot water is used, it dilutes and defeats the effectiveness of the oxidizers that the pureWash has introduced into the wash water.”

Some things we noticed immediately after using pureWash:

  1. The first load of laundry we did with the pureWash was towels. We noticed right away that they felt softer and fluffier than normal. We did not use any detergent and the towels were soft, appeared clean and had a fresh scent. I was anxious to keep washing after that!laundry-basket
  1. I mentioned the fresh, clean scent above. This is true for every single load that is washed, not just that first load of towels. This is the “ozone smell”. I love it. The laundry smells so clean once it’s washed. This is not a smell that can be found in any type of detergent or fabric softener.
  1. The purpose of the pureWash is to use little or no detergent. This is where I was skeptical. Really, no detergent at all? How in the world would anything get clean with just water? But it does. Most often, we have not washed with any detergent using the pureWash. Unbelievably, our laundry is clean with only the cold, oxidized water. “Detergent build-up promotes mold growth and does not kill bacteria. Independent, scientific studies have proven pureWash Pro kills 99.9% of both with cold water.” (Sounds clean to me!) I do appreciate that I can add detergent if I want to. When I wash what I would consider a heavily soiled load of clothes (my nursing work scrubs, for example) I can still add detergent to the machine.
  1. Stains on laundry still need to be pre-treated before washing them using the pureWash. Sure it has worked great, but it’s not a miracle worker. When my kids’ clothes are covered in food or dirt, it’s going to take more than cold water to get those stains out. Once they’re treated with the stain remover you would normally use, simply throw your clothes in and wash like normal.
  1. There is a “Household Water Out” option on the bottom of the pureWash that allows you to use the water for other household cleaning needs. It can be used to clean, water plants, wash pets or rinse fruits and vegetables. I liked this option and plan on taking advantage of it.
  1. With babies and toddlers in my home, we often separate the laundry and use different detergent for the them. This is not necessary with pureWash. It’s so much easier washing everyone’s laundry together and not worrying about my kids breaking out in a rash from soap and detergent. pureWash is “ideal for those who suffer from allergies triggered by bacteria and mold found living in our laundry.”

I think it’s important to note that we use city water and a water softener with our pureWash hook-up. According to pureWash, “it will work with all typical household water qualities, but the better the quality of the water, the better results you will have. If you have hard waterptpa-seal, pureWash recommends a water softener and the removal of chlorine will improve the unit’s performance.” pureWash also recommends consulting a water filtration expert if you have any concerns about the quality of your water (high iron content for example) while using the pureWash.”

Overall, my family gives the pureWash 5 out of 5 stars. I have never seen a product quite like this, but it has surprised me with its ease of installation and use. It’s comforting to know I’m not using tons of chemicals and soap in my family’s laundry and it is still clean. And you know what else, I am saving money! I’m saving money by not using as much detergent and also eliminating the energy waste from washing with hot/warm water.

You can read more about the pureWash here or purchase it through Amazon using this link: pureWash PRO by GreenTech. If you are unhappy with your pureWash after 30 days, they offer a money back guarantee if you are not 100% satisfied with it. Trust me, it’s definitely worth trying and you won’t want to send it back!

Here’s a short video explaining how the pureWash works:

{Jellycat} My Favorite Baby Shower Gift

IMG_20160706_172338636_HDR

I adore all things baby. I mean, who doesn’t? Baby clothes and toys are just adorable 100% of the time. When we had a shower for BK#1, we received our first Jellycat and I fell in love! Above is our little Jellycat collection.

Woodland Fox      Woodland Owl    Bashful Hippo    Bashful Monkey

These are my favorite stuffed animals and the cutest ones I have ever come across. They are a cross between a beanie baby and a super plush stuffed animal. The hands and feet generally have the beanies and the rest is an amazingly plush body. I love that they are all an A-line design. Meaning that the neck is generally smaller than the rest of the body, making it really easy for a younger child to hold. They are the perfect size for a little one to carry around.

  • They are all suitable from birth!
  • Made of polyester, filled plastic pellets and all have plastic eyes
  • Spot clean only
  • They’re available in multiple sizes and styles. All of ours are 12 inches. Jelly-Cats.jpg

Besides being very lovable, Jellycat made them even better and matched them up with their own board books! Each character has its own book. They are all little sensory baby books, but BK#1 is two now and still asks me to read them on a daily basis!

IMG_20160706_172430242.jpg
The toes are little pieces of velcro

I also have never had a stuffed animal that has held up this well! Technically, you aren’t supposed to wash them but we all know sometimes you have no other option. The monkey in the picture has been washed more times than I can count and it still looks and feels like its new! I honestly should buy a second monkey to have a backup because I don’t even want to think about what would happen if BK#1 didn’t have it to sleep with.

The price is based on the style and size but they are generally around $15-$25. The books are usually $12.50 but sometimes you can find a sale on Amazon or at your local boutique!

Visit Jellycat.com to see all of the styles and products that they carry.

If you have a baby sprinkle or shower coming up and can’t decide what to buy, a Jellycat stuffed animal and book set would be the perfect gift!

Leaky Diaper? There’s a Solution!

Diapers. They’re so frustrating, but so very necessary.

As new parents, my husband and I found ourselves constantly switching brands and sizes. One would be too big, not absorbent enough, irritated our baby’s skin, etc. When we finally found a diaper combo we liked, it seemed like our son was still sometimes wetting throug81X9FmaiKzL._SL1500_h his nighttime diaper. We use Huggies Snug and Dry during the day and Huggies Overnights at night, one size larger than he wears during the day.

Our son sleeps through the night now, but sometimes we wake up to find him soaking wet. We had tried everything – bigger diapers, different diapers, double diapers. Nothing was working. We were so tired of our guy being uncomfortable, whether he slept through it or not, and even more tired of all of the laundry, especially because we both work and were often scrambling to get sheets off the crib mattress and into the wash. So much laundry. So much pee.

I felt like I tried everything, until recently when I did another search for a solution. I stumbled upon diaper booster pads, and thought why the hell not? I ordered them, and thanks to Amazon Prime, they were at my doorstep 91kddZ5ECiL._SX522_two days later. The booster pads run $10 for a pack of 30. Essentially, they are just an extra layer of cotton that you’re placing in your baby or toddler’s diaper for extra absorption.

The cotton is great for babies with even the most sensitive skin. Amazon reviews on them show consistent 4 and 5 star ratings.

I’m thrilled to say that we haven’t had one single diaper leak since starting to use these at bed time. We change our son’s diaper right before bed, ensure that he hasn’t drank anything for about an hour before and we place the booster pad in his Huggies Overnight diaper. The pad doesn’t move.

We did not have to fold our booster pad in half, but I’ve seen that many parents recommend folding it in half. For us, the single layer of extra padding has worked wonderfully. My only true regret is not finding these sooner, because I seriously loathe laundry.

These are a one-size-fits-all and are highly recommended for any parent dealing with leaky diapers. We aren’t potty training yet, but I’ve seen that many parents use these while potty training, too!

Babymoov Lovenest {Review}

Before bringing home baby from the hospital, you’re told that putting baby to sleep on their back is the safest sleeping position. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends back sleeping for babies newborn to twelve months old. But spending mostBabymoov_logo1 of their time lying on their backs, it can cause a flat head, also known as Plagiocephaly or flat head syndrome. The weight of baby’s head almost always lays in the same position, awake or asleep, which causes the flat head. If baby’s head is found to be too flat, his or her pediatrician may recommend a helmet to round out baby’s head. I’ve had several friends whose children have needed a helmet and they’ve worked wonderfully! But what can you do to prevent the flat head before the need of a helmet?

With over 20 years, Babymoov a comprehensive range called COSY: unique concepts for comfortable sleep and launched the Lovenest, a heart-shaped headrest that prevents flat head syndrome! Created and patented by Pediatrician Dr. Manuel Maidenberg, the Lovenest is the original ergonomic headrest. It’s tilt and special shape guarantee even distribution of pressure across the baby’s skull, thereby preventing the risk of a flat head. Made from bre8914_2athable cotton spandex, the Lovenest is comfortable and adapts to all rockers, bouncers and swing. It can be used from birth, as baby’s head is supported so that its weight is spread out evenly, preventing it from being flattened.

I have been using the Lovenest ever since Babymoov sent their product for me to review about 3 weeks ago and I’m really happy with it. My little one doesn’t mind it one bit, it’s really soft. I do not put it in her crib while asleep, per guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatrics, as nothing is to be in the crib to prevent the risk of SIDS. When she’s awake playing on the floor under her activity mat or in her mamaRoo, I use the Lovenest to prevent her head from getting flat.

I give this product a 4 out of 5 stars, only because it can’t be used in the crib or bassinet and that is where baby is lying on his or her back the most. But it does work and I think using it outside of the crib when baby is lying down will certainly prevent a flat head which is what parents want in the end. If you or your pediatrician notice baby’s head i8706263294568ms getting a little flat, perhaps give the Lovenest a try to round it back out before it possibly gets worse and a helmet is needed. It’s also available in 3 beautiful colors: red, ivory and taupe and also comes with a lifetime warranty

4moms mamaRoo {Review}

Every new mom needs a break. Her arms need a break, she needs a minute to use the bathroom by herself, she needs to be able to put baby down for the sake of her sanity. But baby likes movement. So wimages (3)hen baby is put down in a crib or bassinet the movement stops and baby gets mad. Very mad. So you pick baby back up and there goes your break. That’s where a swing or bouncer comes in. Most babies love the movement of swings and bouncers. But which one will your baby like? My oldest hated the bouncer, which is what we bought first (go figure) so we had to buy a swing which she FullSizeRender (26)ended up loving. With our second baby, we were lucky enough to have been given a 4moms mamaRoo from my husband’s cousin.

The mamaRoo infant seat is amazing! It was designed to move like we, moms and dads, move. It bounces up and down and moves side to side, just like baby likes when being held. The mamaRoo moves in 5 different motions and also has 5 different speeds, so it can move as slow or as fast as baby likes. My 3 month old loves this seat and I wish I had one with my first. It is such a unique seat and is a swing and bouncer all in one. The seat itself can be adjusted to lay almost flat for newborns or almost straight up as baby gets older and wants to look around more. A super plush insert can be purchased separately for newborns which provides them soft and support.The seat fabrics and infant insert are both machine washable.
mR3_fanned_out

Five Motions

  • Kangaroo
  • Car Ride
  • Free Swing
  • Rock-a-Bye
  • Wave

The mamaRoo also features 4 built-in soothing sounds can lull baby to sleep or you can play baby’s favorite songs using the MP3 plug-in or wirelessly through Bluetooth technology. You can even control the mamaRoo using the 4moms app (available for iOS and Android, check if your device is compatible here). How cool is that?! It is available in several colors: classic gray and classic black which have a smooth woven surface and the plush fabrics, designer plush, multi lush and sIlver plush. The infant insert is available in a multi colored fabric and is also reversible. My little one also love the colorful (or black and white, as they are toy_bar_balls__20819.1419193533.386.513reversible) soft balls that hang from the mobile!

I would give the mamaRoo a 5 out of 5 stars. It has given me my arms back and I have been able to use the bathroom semi-alone (thanks to my toddler) and I have been able to actually eat while my food is semi-hot. Baby loves to sit and listen to the rain (it’s her favorite of the built-in sounds) while bouncing to the Free Swing motion, watching her sister run around like a mad woman in the livingroom. The only issue is the price point. It starts at $239.99 for the classic fabrics and $269.99 for the plush fabrics. It’s a little steep for an infant swing/bouncer and I would also love to see the infant insert included, as it is priced separately at $29.99. Overall, I am thrilled with the mamaRoo. It has saved my sanity more IMG_5054 (1)times than I can count so I do find it worth the money and would have bought one myself had I known how helpful it is!

Purchase your own mamaRoo in classic fabrics here and the plush fabrics here.

Aden+Anais Dream Blanket {Review}

You might already know about Aden+Anais, because BurritoBuzz moms love their products. We did a review not long ago on their toddler bedding, but I want to share my new favorite love with you all: The Aden+Anais Dream Blanket.

logoSticky.png

Their super soft muslin dream blanket is four layers of rayon, made from bamboo. The blanket is breathable, but still thick enough to be plush and warm. The quality stitching keeps your blanket from falling apart like many other blankets do, particullarly when being machine washed over and over again.

machine washable
for care instructions
soft
pre-washed and stays soft wash after wash
layers
four layers of 100% rayon made from bamboo
47″ x 47″ baby blanket
I was thrilled to throw this into my son’s crib, knowing that it’s a safe product for him (he’s now 16 months, so well beyond the age of keeping items out of the crib.) This is a good starter blanket for him. The designs are truly beautiful, and I chose the Midnight – Stylo. What I like most about this blanket is how easy it is to quickly fold up and transport– it isn’t bulky, so it easily fits into my diaper bag.
The price point is a little high for the Dream Blanket, at right around $60. The cost of most muslin products, especially of such good quality, is generally slightly higher than a typical blanket.
Many thanks to Aden + Anais for always providing quality products.

Keen Shoes!

Okay, my hope here is that someone else has a toddler with giant feet.

My son is 16 months old and wearing a size 7/8 shoe. (WHAT.) Also, he has a huge instep, which makes it insanely hard to find shoes that I can wiggle his chubby feet into.

And we’ll get something else out into the open here: Toddler shoes, though a fraction of the size of adult shoes, cost the same amount. Sometimes more, infrequently less. It’s shocking.

I am guessing I’ll end up spending a few hundred dollars on shoes before Lucas is even a few years old. Thankfully, they usually have minimal wear and I can pass the shoes on to his cousin.

download.pngSo my dilemma: I bought MANY shoes, and couldn’t find any that were easy enough to get on and also comfortable/stylish. Thankfully, I was introduced to Keen and found some amazing, quality shoes for my guy. I ordered from Moosejaw, because their customer service is phenomenal and their selection is pretty vast.

Meet the Encanto Sneaker Shoe! Made with elastic ties, Velcro, and breathable mesh. Really good, quality shoes that I’m sure can withstand a ton of play time. The Encanto shoe comes in a few colors, but I loved this scarlet and gray combo (O-H!)

My son loves them. Runs in them, plays in them, and they don’t hurt his feet.

Need a pair? Head over and grab them!

Thanks to Keen for solving my troubles. These shoes will run you $50 or so, unlIMG_2844.JPGess you can find them on sale. But they are totally worth it, and I bought them in a size up so that Lucas has some room to grow. Great purchase, and I’ll be heading back to Keen for our next pair.

Aden + Anais Baby Clothes {Review}

Aden + Anais is famous for their amazing natural muslin blankets. Seriously, they make the softest swaddles and blankets I have ever felt. They are so popular, I bet if you have ADENBYAA-01had a baby shower, you most likely were gifted at least one Aden + Anais product. Over the years, A + A really expanded their product line, from bedding for babies and toddlers to bibs and burp cloths to skin care products to towels and washcloths (check out all of their products here). Every single one of their products have left me feeling nothing but impressed. But my favorite product they have released is their baby apparel. Yes, the muslin fabric that makes their blankets so absolutely fabulous now makes up their beautiful baby clothes! We reached out to A + A a few weeks ago and they kindly sent me a few outfits for me to try (and ultimately fall in love with) on my 3 month old and review them for Burrito Buzz.

I was sent a beautiful romper, a short sleeve kimono onesie, smock top and ruffle bloomers from their little girl’s line, but there are several other pieces, including a one IMG_5855piece short sleeve kimono, long sleeve kimono onesie, jersey pants, muslin pants, hoodie, tunic, tank top bodysuit and long sleeve zipper one piece. All of their clothes are available in sizes 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months and 9-12 months (hopefully the line will be available in bigger sizes soon so toddlers can enjoy them!) and fit true to size in my opinion. I washed the clothing as soon as I received them and they of course came out of the dryer even softer, as they will with each wash thanks to the awesome muslin. The muslin is breathable which is definitely needed during hot and humid Ohio summers and because my baby is a little furnace – she’s always so warm. The romper’s straps are also adjustable which I love, so baby can wear it all summer without outgrowing. There is a little bit of spandex (turning their muslin into a super fabric!) added to the fabric to allow for some stretch which is the perfect amount for always-on-the-move babies.

Caring for A + A clothing is super easy. Wash with like colors in warm water, tumble dry on low. There’s no need to iron or dry clean. Easy peasy! They also offer the FullSizeRender (29)cutest prints! From bright stripes in pink or blue, to bright stars in pink or blue, little hearts and butterflies and a gray star – the perfect gender neutral print. There are several other prints and a few solids to chose from and all of them are simply beautiful!

If I could, I would give Aden + Anais clothing a 6 out of 5 stars. My expectations have been exceeded. The quality is superb but it is to be expected with such an amazing company. I feel like the pieces are timelessly stunning and will definitely be saved to pass down to my girls’ children and hopefully their children. The one and only problem I can find is the price. The pieces range from $14.95 (bloomers) to $34.95 (hoodie) which is expensive to me. I’m a stay-at-home mom with 2 little ones trying to survive on one income, so it would be very hard to outfit my little one in A + A clothing on a regular basis.. unless they are on sale because I live for sales!

Be sure to follow Aden + Anais on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook!

Babymoov Glober Diaper Bag {Review}

When I was pregnant with my second child, I knew I wanted a backpack style diaper bag like I had with my first (it was ragged and I was due for an upgrade) because it was so much easier to tote around without straps falling down your arm while juggling a baby plus a toddler this time. I also knew it needed to be big. It needed to be able to carry all of the baby stuff and fit my toddler’s many strange items she demands we take with us when weFullSizeRender (16) leave the house (lookin’ at you random plastic plates, Paw Patrol figures, bracelets, Lego pieces and anything that is circular or round). So I did some research and came across Babymoov’s Glober diaper bag. It was exactly what I was looking for so I reached out and they were kind enough to send me one to review.

First of all, Babymoov is a fantastic mom-in-mind company. Their products are awesome and their diaper bags are just beautiful (be sure to check them all out here). But as I was looking for a specific type of bag, the Glober caught my eye immediately. There is so much space, it measures 39x35x26cm. It has a ton of pockets to fit just about anything you could possibly need to take with you for baby. With the pull of a draw string (which I am crazy about) opens the bag’s main compartment that could perhaps fit your actual baby (please do not put baby in the bag, I was just comparing the bag and your baby for size reference), it is huge. The fabric is so soft  and durable. There are also several little bags that come with it for organization (I am an organization freak – I blame my OCD).

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Organization Accessories:

  • Pacifier bag
  • Insulated bag
  • Transparent bag
  • Stroller harness
  • Changing pad

It also comes in four gorgeous colors, Cherry, Black and Smokey. I chose Smokey, which is a heather gray, so mFullSizeRender (18)y husband can also carry it without it affecting his manliness. The Glober bag can be worn two ways, as a shoulder bag or even as a crossbody bag with it’s included strap and as a backpack, which is my prefered way of carrying it. There is also easy MP3 access so you can listen to your favorite music while out with baby.

There is nothing that I can complain about with this diaper bag, it’s met and exceeded my expectations and is exactly what I was looking for! I’m so happy I found Babymoov! I give the Glober bag a 5 out of 5 stars. I bet their other bags are just as fantastic, be sure to check them out! Click here to purchase your own Babymoov Glober Bag, Smokey!

Boingo Fasteners for Cloth Diapers {Guest Review}

Boingo Fasteners for Cloth Diapers Review
Mallory Menegay
Boingo Baby

We have been successfully cloth diapering since our little guy was one month old. Now, 14 months in, my time in researching this topic seems to be a close second to our switch to organic and clean eating. I did some digging into the best closure tools for cloth diapers that use a cover (basically anything other than the pocket 319479363and all-in-one style diapers). We mostly use pre-folds and flour sack towels with covers and pocket diapers. I settled on the Snappi, but the Boingo was a close second.

I was given the opportunity to use the Boingo fasteners from Katie here at BurritoBuzz and was excited to try them! In all honesty, the first few times using them, I hated it. I was used to the convenience of the little tabs on the Snappi, and really fought with the Boingo to get it off of the diaper. I do not like to touch a pee soaked diaper if I don’t have to, and the Boingo fasteners definitely make me do that. Yuck. There may be some trick to getting them off, but if there is, I haven’t found it.

319479378
I kept using them to see if I could find a good technique that worked for us, and they began to grow on me.

The fasteners come in a wide range of colors and are very stable and sturdy. Being so thick, they are harder to maneuver, and I prefer the Snappi over them for this reason. They are one size and come in a pack of two, so you can use one fastener for smaller babies and two for bigger areas. This is nice, because comparing this to my use of the Snappi, the convenience factor is greater (Snappi’s come in sizes, so you have to buy more as baby grows). The prongs on the Boingo seem to grip better than the Snappi, and hold on great. The non-toxic, medical grade silicone covers the BPA-free hard plastic parts well, so there hasn’t been any rubbing or poking on baby’s skin for us.

Overall, I’ll continue to use them, and I do like them more now than when I first gave them a try, but would recommend them hands down if they were adjusted a little to make them easier to get off of the cloth!

Zulily – Unique Products

150508_zulily_NewsletterHeader

I don’t know about the rest of the moms out there, but ever since I became a mommy, I cannot shop like I used to. Before my kiddos, I could enjoy several hours shopping for nothing in particular. There isn’t time for that now. It is the furthest thing from enjoyable to take my kidd out for a few hours of shopping. It also makes me incredibly anxious just thinking about getting them in and out of the car, in and out of the store, and through the parking lot. It is DEFINITELY not my idea of a good time anymore. With that said, I am so thankful for the website Zulily. Because of Zulily, I don’t even miss being able to “get out of the house” to go shopping.

I was a new mom when I first downloaded my Zulily app. I wasn’t shopping for anything specific, I just wanted to browse. I knew that Zulily targeted moms and specialized in unique brands and products. I was curious then, and I have been hooked ever since.

I love Zulily because of the wide variety of products and brand names. Items on their site include anything from shoes, toys, clothing, décor, and household items. Here is a listing of some of their most popular under-armour_416x416photobrands. You’ll see brands like Vera Bradley, Carters, Coach, Graco, Nike, Crocs, Burt’s Bees, and Aden and Anais are amongst the lengthy list. These brands and others open new “shops” of products that start up every morning, so there is always something new to see, which I LOVE. The catch is that these “shops” do not stay open for long. Most often, it’s only 48-72 hours, and then those items are gone; those “shops” are closed.

To me, Zulily is tough to beat. I know they have competitors out there, but they have kept me loyal and coming back. I have bought a variety of items over the last few years including baby items, shoes, kids’ clothes, purses, bathing suits, kitchen gadgets, bed sheets, toys, and magazine subscriptions. They even have personalization with some shops. You really can’t beat their prices either. They advertise their prices to be up to 70% off every day and offer a $15 credit for every new customer you refer. Most often their shipping times are lengthy (10-14 days), but I have gotten used to that. You also aren’t able to return items if you are unhappy with them.

zulily-homepage_screenshot

Overall, Zulily is a great site, especially if you are a busy Mommy like me and crave the shopping you can’t find the time to squeeze in anymore. The app is user friendly and there are always new shops and products to browse. Check it out ASAP – there is something for everyone!

Bambino Bib {Review}

61kuTSQ3iqL._SL1000_

I recently purchased a few Bambino bibs, after being frustrated with the bibs that I had. Now that my son is eating mostly finger foods, he’s dropping bits and pieces all over the place. I was getting pretty tired of picking pieces of food off the floor, out of the crevices in the high chair, and even pulling pieces out from the inside of my son’s shirts.

While my son still throws food all over, this bib has really solved my problem of the food pieces ending up in his lap during meal time. The bib has a large area for catching food that stays open (a problem I had with other bibs was that the “catcher” portion didn’t hold its shape and often ended up flush against the bib.. 6193trVL6sL._SY355_doing very little good for its intended purpose.

The Bambino bib has a silicone pocket, but the top portion is comfortable because it is made of nylon, a huge improvement from bibs that are silicon the entire way up.

The back closure is Velcro, but I was absolutely amazed by the quality. It isn’t the sort of Velcro that is raised and easily scratches skin. Instead, it is a flat and soft Velcro that won’t hurt your baby should it brush up against their skin.

It also rolls up for travel. This is ideal for a restaurant where, as a parent, I don’t want to be the person cleaning up the high chair and floor for 30 minutes after my family has finished eating. The bib contains the mess, and you can quickly wipe it out and be on your way.

IMG_1343

It currently comes in four colors: pink, yellow, green, and blue.

A two pack retails $24.45 on Amazon. For me personally, this is a steep price point. Purchasing it on sale helps (currently $19.45 on Amazon.) Realistically, you’d spend this much on a week’s worth of cloth bibs that need washed every day. Instead, this gives you the option to purchase two that can be quickly cleaned and reused day after day. Still, the price is the only hindrance I see in this product. They would make for a great registry add on item.

BambinoCo baby bibs (free of BPA, phthalates & bPVC) are FDA approved & safe. Machine-washable. I have even put mine in the dishwasher and it’s held up great.

I love this bib, and I definitely give it five stars!

EZPZ Happy Mat {Review}

category-happyI’ll admit it: I’m a Shark Tank addict.

I had no idea that EZPZ was on Shark Tank until I saw their website. They’ve really run this thing from the ground up, which I so admire as a founder of this website!

This idea was totally new to me, and I was pretty excited to try their trays with my (very) messy toddler.

My trays arrived quickly, and I was impressed with the sleek design and truly high-end quality of the silicone. The mat is heavy, so even though my toddler had an interest in picking it up, he wasn’t successful.

I quickly chopped up all of his favorite fruits and veggies for lunch, threw them in the tray, and set it down. He loved the compartments and that his food was all separated. The tray didn’t stain, even with the biggest culprits blueberries and blackberries. It has held up so well in the dishwasher, and literally looks brand new each time it’s washed.
The best part for me? When my toddler decides he’s done eating, he usually starts tossing food off of his high chair tray. By utilizing this mat, I can quickly grab the entire thing away from him and he’s left with a clean tray. Win-win for everyone.
The price is a little steep for the product, at $24.99. In all honesty, I’d love to have three of them for those particularly chaotic days when I can’t wash it fast enough. I’d love to see a multi-pack or a price break as the company grows. They also have a mini-mat for high chairs and travel, which I plan on reviewing soon. Overall, a great purchase and I plan to use it daily! Thanks to EZPZ for making my life a little easier!

UPDATE!

So, I loved this mat so much that I ended up purchasing the bowl and the mini mat. I have no regrets! I’ve had them both for about a week now, and I can tell you that I’m getting a ton of use out of them.

IMG_2864IMG_2858
The bowl
is ideal for snack time in our home. My son has a toddler table, and I set the bowl down and leave it there most of the day. It suctions to the table, so my son can’t toss the bowl like he does with his standard bowls. I periodically add snacks to it throughout the day, and he loves it! He’s running to his table non-stop to grab a handful of the latest treats. At the end of the day, I simply toss it into the dishwasher to clean it for the next day.

IMG_2912

The mini mat: this is what I really was looking forward to trying. My son still needs the 5 point harness on the highchair, so I wanted a mat that would fit on his tray. Not only did this mat accomplish that, but it has a nice little travel bag for going out to restaurants/travel. It suctioned to his highchair tray, and when he decides he’s done eating I can quickly take it off and dump the contents and toss it into the dishwasher (seriously, what would we do without dishwashers? The thought of not having one gives me anxiety.)

Again, the price point of $19.99 for either the bowl or mat is a little high for the typical consumer, but I can say I’m a total fan of EZPZ now and am using all three of my mats every day that we’re home.

Burt’s Bees {Skin Care Review}

IMG_1163

Anyone that’s walked through the baby skin care aisle at a store knows that there is an ample selection, so much so that the options are overwhelming. And, if you’re anything like me, you like to do your research before purchasing a product. As a frugal person, I hate wasting my hard earned money on products that I end up hating.

We’ve written several skin care reviews, but I was exceptionally excited to collaborate with Burt’s Bees since they’re a top name in the industry. Their products are naturally sourced and cruelty free. I was most interested in their ointments and lotion, all of which Burt’s Bees sent my way.

So here’s the rundown:

BB10008Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Lotion: LOVED

Their lotion is minimally fragrant, thick, and incredibly moisturizing. A little bit really went a long way. I used this on my son’s skin as well as my own, and thought it was a fantastic product.

 • Moisturizes with Buttermilk, Shea Butter and Sunflower Seed Oil
• No phthalates, parabens, petrolatum, or SLS
• Pediatrician-tested and hypo-allergenic

Overall, I have preferred this to many other lotions that I’ve bought for my son so far.

Buy it here: Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Nourishing Lotion Original — 6 oz

BB10004Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Multipurpose Ointment: LOVED

A pretty typical ointment, great for forming a protective layer over skin. I personally use a light ointment every diaper change to prevent diaper rash and keep my son comfortable. This was perfect for that. Light, not super disgustingly gooey like many are. Also, the smell was much better than many other ointments.

• Petroleum-free and non-irritating
• Forms barrier against dryness
• No phthalates, parabens, petrolatum, or SLS
• Pediatrician-tested and hypo-allergenic
• Safe, effective and natural

Buy it here: Burt’s Bees Baby Bee 100% Natural Multipurpose Ointment, 7.5 Ounces (Packaging May Vary)

Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Diaper Cream to Powder: Not a FanBabyBee_Cream_to_Powder

The idea behind the cream to powder is great. I’ve never been a huge fan of baby powder, because I think that ointment works better for protecting skin from rash. However, I was fascinated by this idea. At first I liked the consistency of the product. Yet, I found a few things I wasn’t so fond of: this did nothing for even the most minimal of rashes, and the oil separates from the cream, making for a huge mess at times (even after shaking this product, I found that the oil still came out first– not a good idea when you’re already wrestling a toddler for a diaper change.) Outside of that, I also found the thick tube difficult and thought a thin tube would work better. Overall, I think this product needs modifications.

• Dries to a powdery, soft finish
• Talc free
• Hypoallergenic
• Pediatrician Tested
• Safe, effective and natural

Buy it here: Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Cream To Powder, 4 Ounces

All of Burt’s Bees’ products are easily available online and in store. For a product that is 99% natural, the price is definitely right and under the price point of many other comparable lines.

Little Tikes Spiralin’ Seas Waterpark Play Table {Review}

We bought this for my oldest child’s first birthday 2 years ago, and it has been such a great toy for her. Now, we are preparing to use it all summer long with both of my kids. My oldest is now 3 and she still enjoys playing with it. My youngest is almost a year ol and he already loves it. We usually have it set-up on our deck out back. We have a hose nearby which makes it easy for us to fill up when needed. When we are ready to empty it, we just unplug the drain and let it empty through the deck. Perfect. Even when it’s not filled with water (all winter long it was stored in our basement), the kids still love playing with it!

Here are some more cool features:

img_3976–       Five character balls were included with the table that fit down the spiral slide in the middle of the table. They also squirt water – what kid doesn’t love to squirt their parents?! You can also scoop them up using the attached Ferris wheel or included water cup. I love that you can see through the spiral slide so the kids can watch as the balls come down.

–       The kiddos can use the included water cup to pick up the character balls, pour water through the spiral slide, funnel or Ferris wheel, or just splash each other. My daughter loves that the cup has little holes in the bottom of it too.

img_3975
–       The water table is the perfect height for toddlers. Even my youngest stands and plays at it well. He can’t reach to put the balls down the spiral slide, but he is able to play with everything else with ease and loves it!

–       The table is advertised to hold 7 gallons of water. I don’t know if this is exactly true, but either way, it holds enough to make it sturdy to not be pushed or moved around. When my little ones are standing at it, I can trust that it’s not going to push out from under them and they will be safe. The table is light enough when it’s empty (10 lbs) that is can be picked up and moved around with ease to wherever your kiddos want to play.

41ufn0EEkmLOur family gives this Spiralin’ Seas Waterpark Play Table 5 out of 5 stars. I can see the table being helpful with my 3 year old in developing her imagination and sharing skills further, especially now that she is a big sister. My littlest will hopefully get stronger and better at cruising around the table as the summer goes on. The only downside I can think of is that the assembly was difficult. It has been a couple of years now since I put it together, but I remember saying a few choice words and needing my husband’s help.

You can find this summer fun item on the Little Tikes website which is offering 10% off currently or on Amazon

This is the perfect toy for your little one’s first or second birthday and this coming up this summer. They will stand and play for hours and years to come!

D-Link Day & Night Wi-Fi Baby Monitor {Review}

This past, week my husband and I decided it was time for our 9 week old to move into her big sister’s bedroom (she has been in our room since birth) and I knew we needed a baby monitor to keep an eye on them. She has been sleeping through the night for about two weeks and we desperately wanted to have our room to ourselves again, my poor husband has been on the couch since she came home! We weren’t concerned aboFullSizeRender (1)ut having a video monitor, as our iPhones and iPad could double as monitors (and it saves money!). We just wanted a good camera that we could hear and see our girls on. We went with the D-Link Day & Night DCS-800L Wi-Fi Baby Monitor and I am so glad! I don’t know much about baby monitors or cameras for that matter, but this one has exceeded my expectations!

First off, it’s small so we attached it to the top corner of my daughter’s crib to where we can see the baby and also my three year old in her bed. The way we set it up in their room up is perfect for the angle we get with the camera. It can be set up wirelessly or plug it in. We opted to just plug it in so we didn’t have to worry about a dead battery but the wireless option is nice so we can use it anywhere. It also has all of the features I wanted in a monitor. The video picture is incredibly clear for a baby monitor. I am pleasantly surprised with the quality. I love that you can snap pictures or take videos right from the live feed. So if your baby or toddler is doing something cute, it automatically saves to your camera roll.

Features:

  • It has 2-way audio so you can sooth baby without going into the room\
  • Infrared night vision, sees up to 16 feet
  • Prerecorded 5 soothing lullabies
  • 4x digital zoom
  • 802.11n wireless lets you place the camera anywhere
  • Motion or sound alerts when baby moves or cries
  • Notifications can be sent to your phone for detected events
  • 3 interchangeable accent rings: yellow, pink and blue
  • H.264 video compression and PCM audio
  • Snap photos or record video live video with app
  • Can be powered by an external USB battery
  • Compatible with iPhone and iPad using iOS 5.1.1 or higher
  • Compatible with Android smartphones and tablets using Android 4.1 or higher

Once you set up the camera, you download D-Link’s free app. It’s easy to do and takes a minute. When your D-Link account is setup, you can access the camera remotely as long as you have wi-fi connection on your tablet or phone and also through the website so you can see baby from any computer, anywhere in the world. The video quality is superb, even at night, so you can always see baby perfectly. The infrared night vision turns on automatically when blinds are drawn or at night. The app offers so much for parents’ peacedlink2 of mind, like movement and sound alerts (that you can also get e-mailed to you) and even if your phone or tablet is locked, you can still hear what is going on which is so important as it won’t kill your battery!

I am so glad we went with this camera. The price is on point as well at $99.99 (I purchased from Kmart but it’s available at many stores or websites). We have had zero complaints and are thrilled that it works so well. There are several different models, some of which have panning capabilities, which is the only feature I now wish this model had but I am very impatient and a local store had this model in stock so I didn’t have to order it online. But overall, I give it 5 stars. I honestly can’t find anything wrong with it!

“The best ‘rash’ decision you’ll ever make”

IMG_1158

Now that my son is 15 months old, I’ve tried a good number of diaper rash creams/ointments. He’s been pretty fortunate, in that he doesn’t get diaper rash often and when he does, it’s usually fairly minor. That being said, I use some kind of ointment every diaper change as a preventative measure. Keeping him comfortable means less chaos in the long run for me.

I had heard of Pinxav (pronounced “pink salve”) several times, especially since I’m so immersed in baby culture because of my involvement with this blog. I hadn’t seen it on a shelf anywhere, which is why I hadn’t purchased it. Thankfully, after reaching out to their awesome team, they sent me some samples to try.

Better yet, I didn’t realize that Pinxav is operated from Cleveland, OH, just about an hour north of where I live. I really love promoting products that are both great quality and also run locally. And an essential to me, Pinxav is NOT tested on animals.

The packaging is great, a typical tube container with a cute design and old-world feel. To say that it’s old world isn’t untrue, Pinxav was developed in 1927 by a group of doctors and pharmacists. Their rash treatment contains 30% zinc oxide, which is considered to be the most effective ingredient in healing diaper rash. They have a solid list of ingredients, all thoughtfully explained on their website for the interested parent. IMG_1153

So my test: I was apprehensive about the cream being pink, thinking that it would stain. However, I found the opposite to be true. The use of the very light pink ointment blended into my baby’s skin better than the stark white ointment I typically use. While it leaves pink on the diaper, I’ve found that it isn’t ending up anywhere else and it’s not staining.

I was pleased with how quickly this cream healed the irritated sections of skin. My toddler had some very mild rash/redness and within 3 uses the redness had dissipated almost entirely.

My favorite aspect of this product? It smells great. I’d say a good 80% of diaper rash creams smell absolutely rancid. This is not the case with Pinxav.

IMG_1157This product is slightly more expensive than what I like to spend on a diaper rash cream, but it works, smells great, and is an ethical product. Those items make it worth the cost, but I’d love to see the price lowered by $2-3 a tube.

Uses for Pinxav include:

Babies (Diaper Rash) – Pinxav provides a protective coating for a baby’s bottom. Daily application to clean, dry skin will guard against and help relieve diaper rash.

Active Adults (Rashes and Chapped Skin) – Pinxav provides protection, prevents rashes and chapped skin caused by rubbing and perspiration. Apply before biking and other athletic activities.

Seniors (Protection) – Pinxav provides relief and helps prevent against dry, cracked skin. Use over sun-block for extra protection from sunburn. Use to prevent rashes and to soothe minor skin irritations.

Homebound (Rashes) – Pinxav helps provides comfort to those who are less active and will help protect areas exposed to dampness caused by possible incontinence.

Everyday Uses – Pinxav can also be used for everyday first aid to protect skin from minor scrapes, burns, sunburn, acne and other skin irritations.

Caution: If prolonged skin irritation occurs, consult a physician. Avoid contact with the eyes and do not apply to open wounds. Avoid getting on clothing. The adhesive quality of Pinxav will cause stains on fabric.

LILLEbaby Complete {Carrier Review!}

I have been baby-wearing since my son was born. We’ve used a great many carriers: the Infantino Fusion, Ergo, Ring Sling, and Tula (some of which I’ve reviewed on this site! Check out our baby-wearing category for more.)

The “buzz” on baby-wearing has recently shifted to LILLEbaby, a company that I hadn’t heard of prior to having my son, but certainly have heard PLENTY about in the last few months. Their carriers have really gotten a ton of momentum, so I wanted to see what the craze was all about.

Lille was kind enough to send the Complete carrier my way to test and review, and I’m so glad they did!

The carrier’s packaging is simple, elegant, and appealing to the eye. When the box showed up on my stoop I was like a little kid on Christmas. Within minutes I had it unpackaged, had read through the instructions, and had my toddler on my back to tote around.

The carrier’s adjustments are similar to most that I’ve used (and very similar to the Tula.) Easy straps to adjust, safety strap around the waist, hood with easy anchor. But the Lille’s design goes above and beyond the expected. Here’s why:

-The carrier is simple to put on. Forward and side potions are exceptionally simple, and back carry just takes time or another person. I’ve never been one that is comfortable with back-carry when I’m on my own.

-The waist strap is thicker than most, and includes lumbar support (or hides your belly pouch, which I was stoked about…)

-The chest/back strap has an extra cushion so that it doesn’t pull so hard on your skin.

-The hood has simple snaps, with multiple adjustments.

-The fabric is soft, and easily cleaned (machine washable.) Unlike some other carriers, this fabric feels ‘broken in’ from day one.

-My personal favorite: the back panel unzips to allow for a breathable mesh backing, which is so nice for when we’re out doing work/hiking since my LO gets so hot. If you’re out in the cold/wind, zip the panel back up for a layer of extra protection.

-Fold down head support. My toddler mostly likes to sit with his arms free, but when he falls asleep it’s nice to pull the head rest and hood up to keep him cozy and shaded from the sun.

-Several neutral colors, but also a great many (and ever-expanding) set of patterns!

-Works in SIX positions all the way from newborn (7lbs)-45lbs. (Adjustable from narrow, to wide seat.)

-Stirrups can be purchased as an addition. I already have a set, and my guy loves them. I’d highly recommend them, especially for anyone with a toddler that likes to stretch out.

I’ve worn my carrier several times now, in multiple positions. I’ve done some serious yard work with my 26lb toddler on my back, and can say that I was comfortable, as was he, the entire time.

I initially struggled with the wide waist strap and getting it to feel ‘right’ for me. I found that simply making and adjustment and pulling the shoulder straps tighter to my body corrected the problem fully.

There is a pocket on the carrier, but I would love to see more, particularly a waist pocket that zips, similar to what most structured carriers have. Because let’s be honest: a great many of us live in yoga pants, with no pockets, and having a pocket on my hip for my phone, cash, cards, and keys would be ideal. (You’ll notice in one of my photos I slid my iPhone into the waistband. Not safe or practical, but necessary in the moment!)

Lille is one of my new favorites. Their line includes more than just the Complete carrier, but this concept is hands down one of my favorites. For anyone that loves baby-wearing, toddler-wearing, and ESPECIALLY those of you that have a hot little one, this is the carrier for you. I found the Lille practical, comfortable, and to be a good deal (the complete runs around $139, depending on where you’re purchasing.)

LaLou Boutique: Pacifier Bib {Product Review}

LaLou Boutique is an adorable little shop on Etsy that is operated by Lacey. Lacey works as a Nurse, but loves to craft in her spare time. More specifically, she crafts precious products for babies. I was lucky enough to receive one of LaLou Boutique’s Pacifier Bibs to try out on my little guy. He has been teething (in reality, it seems like he’s always been teething), so he is constantly wanting to chew on ANYTHING and also has a never ending stream of drool coming from his mouth.  I was so anxious to put the bib on him because it is super adorable and it could now catch all that drool as he sucked and gnawed on everything, especially his binky!

Here are just some of the PROS of the Pacifier Bib:

  1. The bib has an adjustable snap neck so it can be used throughout the infant stage and well into the toddler stage, as well (my little guy will be 10 months soon). It grows with the kiddo!  I really like the snaps as opposed to Velcro, because I know the bib won’t be pulled off in 2 seconds after it’s put on.

  1. LaLou Boutique offers several other prints in this specific bib (you can even custom order). They are all super adorable. I tried out the white/black stripe. It’s gender neutral, which I love, and it has washed up well. It hasn’t stained or faded. The bib is made of soft chenille fabric with terry cloth backing.

  1. You can attach a pacifier – Biggest perk! This bib sure beats the heck out of a typical pacifier clip. I found that the snap loop part of the bib could be used for toys or teething rings for my little guy too. It’s so nice knowing he isn’t going to lose his binky or toy – It will be right with him. This is perfect right now because he is so mobile or for when we are in the car and on the go. He has what he needs.

  1. With all the teething, sucking, and drooling, the bib seemed more than sufficient in its level of absorbency – thanks to the terry cloth backing I believe. My little guy wore it for several hours and his shirt remained dry throughout.

  1. Super reasonable price at $12.00 from the LaLou Boutique Etsy shop.

The only downside to this product that I could possible think of is that when my little guy decided he did not want to use his binky, it would just drag across the ground as he crawled. This is not that big of a deal while at home, but if we were out somewhere else, I would not want all the dirt and germs getting on the binky. Once he is walking, this won’t be a problem at all.

Overall, this is a great product that I will continue to use with my kiddos. It would make such a good gift idea for any mom you know and their little ones. It is perfect for any little one who uses a bib, even if they don’t use a pacifier. LaLou Boutique has several other products (burp cloths, onesies, regular bibs, blankets) and even offers custom orders! Check them out!

Baby Gate {Review} Summer Infant

Baby gates. Often necessary, but almost always ugly and inconvenient. More often than not, they don’t fit the space that you need, or require being hard-mounted directly into the wall. My home is a century home, and drilling in to that original woodwork just wasn’t happening. The space that we needed a gate for was also far wider than a typical gate opening.IMG_1610

There are very few options for wide gates that pressure mount. Even fewer that are appeasing to the eye.

Thankfully, Summer Infant solved all of my problems. Their gate is dark gray metal, and has a nicely finished wooden door. It has a total of 4 pieces that easily fit together to fit the width of most areas. We needed all four pieces to span our doorway. The pressure mount was simple, though much easier with two people if you’re using the widest setting. The pressure mounts have a rubber backing to protect the surface of your wall and also keep the gate from sliding.

The gate also is easy to open with one hand, something very necessary if you’re carrying your baby/toddler in your other arm. This gate does not automatically close like many others, but I prefer gates that aren’t spring-loaded.

Summer Infant Decorative Wood and Metal Expansion Walk-Thru Gate

The Summer Infant gate will run you around $75. This is a pretty standard price-point for a gate this size, and much more aesthetically appealing than many of the competitor’s gates.IMG_1611

32-inch tall gate fits openings 36-60 inches wide.

We’ve owned ours for the better part of 6 months now, and have been told many times how nice it looks in comparison to other gates.

Thanks to Summer Infant for a great product!
