Re-Think Mealtime with Re-Play {Review + Giveaway}

img_9596I was recently looking for new silverware for my toddler, something that was fun, easy to handle, and I wanted to stay away from metal. I found a really cute set of plastic forks and spoons made by Re-Play and they are perfect for little hands. They were exactly what I was looking for and I was pleasantly surprised at the price, just over $2.50 for a pack of 8! If you know me or have read any of my blog posts, you know I’m a cheapskate. The price point is perfect for those on a budget (I’ve learned that all Re-Play products are easy on the wallet). They’re super durable and my daughter loved them soreplay1 I decided to reach out to Re-Play to collaborate on a blog review. They were kind enough to send a Complete Toddler Feeding Set (right) for my daughter to try. I soon started learned what an amazing company Re-Play is and I am so excited to share this company with our readers!

The moms at BurritoBuzz love products that are good for the planet, good for our families, and products that are made in the USA. This company hits all of those marks and more! Re-Play products are made from recycled milk jugs! How awesome is that? That means there are less milk jugs (we all know you go through gallons and gallons of milk when you have kids) ending up in landfills thanks to Re-Play, which is a family-owned and family-focused company. The brand looks to fulfill 5 Tenants of Responsibility: sustainability, safety, durability, functionality, and affordability. Re-Play is a brand you can feel really good about buying from. Their products are a better alternative for those looking to make the planet a better place for their children and future generations. Check out the Re-Play recycling process here:

I picked the white set for my daughter to try, but there are a ton of colors to choose from (they’re all dishwasher safe and they don’t fade)! Seriously, it probably took me a half an hour and asking my husband repeatedly what color I should pick (white was not one of his fullsizerenderchoices but I loved it and ultimately decided on it), it was not an easy choice. The Complete Toddler Feeding Set ($22) includes: 1 spoon and 1 fork, 1 divided plate, 1 spill proof cup, 1 drinking cup, 1 snack pod, and 1 bowl. I must say, Re-Play makes fantastic products! They’re so durable and the spill proof sippy is in fact spill proof. My daughter has used a popular brand of sippies with characters on them since ditching the bottle years ago, but they eventually leak and the spout gets cruddy as the plastic piece inside the mouthpiece, which is hard to clean. The Re-replay3Play spill proof cup is only 3 parts: the cup, lid, and valve. It is so easy to clean, as are all of the products! They come in packs of 2 for only $8.99! Products range in price from $4.99 for 8 utensils to $5.99 for 3 bowls, $7.99 for 3 divided plates to $5.99 for a snack stack of 2, check out all of their products and prices here! The snack pod is perfect for on the go and it has allowed me to stop using plastic sandwich bags (there I go, helping to save the planet again). The prices are very affordable and there are several color combinations to chose from, like rainbow, sorbet, and bold to name a few. Re-Play also has kitchen essentials for grown ups and teethers and toys for little ones. Be sure to check out the product section on their website to see all of their goodies!

I have fallen in love with Re-Play! I love that the company is helping the earth and future generations by recycling what would be waste. I give their products a 5 out of 5 stars. I will definitely be purchasing more of their products, especially their spill proof cups for my girls! Re-Play is available on Amazon, through the Re-Play website, and in store at WalMart, Whole Foods, Kroger, HEB, Target, and at various specialty shops and grocers around the country. Give Re-Play a try and I can promise that you will fall in love, not only with their amazing and durable products, but the wonderful company!

Silikids Siliskin Sippy & Straw Cup {Review}

When you’re the parent of a toddler, you know all about sippy cups. You know how important a good sippy cup is and how necessary it is for it to be leak-free. Nothing makes me angrier th5FnjE1uVan a sippy cup that leaks everywhere. If I wanted my toddler to spill sticky liquids everywhere, I would just give her a regular cup without a lid. What would make a sippy cup even better is a sippy lid that is universal and fits on any cup. While searching for a such a lid, I came across Silikids Siliskin Sippy Cup and Silicone Straw Cup. After reaching out to Silikids, I was kindly sent a fantastic sippy cup and straw cup.

Silikids is an innovative company, started in 2006, that’s main focus is products made of silicone. Silicone is a safe alternative to chemical-laced plastic. Silikids products are made of 100% food-grade silicone and they’re easy s500774824218195250_p40_i15_w640to clean and super easy to use.

Silikids silicone is:

  • Safe
  • Durable
  • Free of BPA, bisphenol-A, lead, PVC and phthalates.

I love using silicone cups instead of plastic when I can, and I just love Silikids’ sippy and straw cups! The cups are thick and extremely durable, my toddler is so rough with her cups and it’s really held up, it pretty much looks like I just took it out of the box. The lids are incredible! The lids are so soft, flexible and stretchy. To get liquid out of the spout, you have to gently bite down and suck, making it truly leak-free. The straw cup does leak but I chalk it up to being a regular straw. I love that they can be used with practically any kind of cup (depending on the width of the cup), as it stretches around the rim. It is secure enough to where it can be thrown and tossed around but it doesn’t budge from the cup. I love being able to just throw the silicone lid in my purse and take it with us when we go out to eat and not have to worry about bringing a sippy cup for my daughter. I just put the lid on a regular cup at the restaurant and she’s good to go!s500774824218195250_p41_i12_w640I give Silikids Siliskins Sippy Cup and Straw Cups a 5 out of 5 stars. Silikids’ cups are new staples in our household. I love how travel friendly they are and how easy they are to clean and use! I will say I can’t put the lid on the cup with one hand (as my 4 month old is s500774824218195250_p49_i2_w640always in my arms) but that’s the only “bad” thing I can say about it. Silikids has a lot of awesome and innovative products, we’ve even reviewed a few of them – Silikids Silicone Spoons & Bags and the Silikids Silibib. Be sure to check out their website to see their entire product line!

Zulily – Unique Products

150508_zulily_NewsletterHeader

I don’t know about the rest of the moms out there, but ever since I became a mommy, I cannot shop like I used to. Before my kiddos, I could enjoy several hours shopping for nothing in particular. There isn’t time for that now. It is the furthest thing from enjoyable to take my kidd out for a few hours of shopping. It also makes me incredibly anxious just thinking about getting them in and out of the car, in and out of the store, and through the parking lot. It is DEFINITELY not my idea of a good time anymore. With that said, I am so thankful for the website Zulily. Because of Zulily, I don’t even miss being able to “get out of the house” to go shopping.

I was a new mom when I first downloaded my Zulily app. I wasn’t shopping for anything specific, I just wanted to browse. I knew that Zulily targeted moms and specialized in unique brands and products. I was curious then, and I have been hooked ever since.

I love Zulily because of the wide variety of products and brand names. Items on their site include anything from shoes, toys, clothing, décor, and household items. Here is a listing of some of their most popular under-armour_416x416photobrands. You’ll see brands like Vera Bradley, Carters, Coach, Graco, Nike, Crocs, Burt’s Bees, and Aden and Anais are amongst the lengthy list. These brands and others open new “shops” of products that start up every morning, so there is always something new to see, which I LOVE. The catch is that these “shops” do not stay open for long. Most often, it’s only 48-72 hours, and then those items are gone; those “shops” are closed.

To me, Zulily is tough to beat. I know they have competitors out there, but they have kept me loyal and coming back. I have bought a variety of items over the last few years including baby items, shoes, kids’ clothes, purses, bathing suits, kitchen gadgets, bed sheets, toys, and magazine subscriptions. They even have personalization with some shops. You really can’t beat their prices either. They advertise their prices to be up to 70% off every day and offer a $15 credit for every new customer you refer. Most often their shipping times are lengthy (10-14 days), but I have gotten used to that. You also aren’t able to return items if you are unhappy with them.

Overall, Zulily is a great site, especially if you are a busy Mommy like me and crave the shopping you can’t find the time to squeeze in anymore. The app is user friendly and there are always new shops and products to browse. Check it out ASAP – there is something for everyone!

Water Bottle of the Gods {Review}

61Yd1fRTV+L._SL1111_If you don’t have a Camelbak cup yet, you don’t know what you’re missing out on! After months of spilled milk (actually worth crying over when it’s in your carpet,) I’ve finally found a great straw cup.

I, no joke, purchased probably 20 sippy cups in hot pursuit of one that worked. How hard can a freaking sippy cup be to execute?  Cup after cup, I found myself aggravated and seething with anger that all that money spent on sippy cups could have gone to Chipotle burritos.

We’ve done a great many reviews on sippy cups on BurritoBuzz, most of which have been bad. Happily, this one is vastly different.

The Camelbak cup is simple. It is a larger-than-usual straw cup that the baby/toddler must both bite down and suck to get liquid out. I thought it might be a tricky concept for my son, but he got the hang of it within minutes. The cup is four pieces, and is simple to take apart and clean.

I’ve found it numerous times laying sideways on the floor and it hasn’t leaked. The straw portion also folds down to prevent any possible spillage when not in use.

Two things I dislike:

  1. If you little one is teething and biting, they may be able to push the straw all the way in. My guy has only done this twice, because it’s pretty hard to do. When this does happen it creates a mess, but I’ve found that if I really make sure the straw is secure it’s a non-issue.
  2. This water bottle wouldn’t work well for littles that are just learning. The straw is too big/difficult to use. I’d recommend starting the use of the Camelbak cup around 8-9 months.

The cup comes in all kinds of great colors and designs. And while they’re a little pricier than a typical sippy cup, ($10-$12,) they are worth the funds. Instead of spending $100 on 20 cups you’ll throw away, spend $20 on two that you’ll use until your LO is done with sippy cups.

I strongly recommend this to any parent or caretaker looking for a good cup option. Add it to your registry, buy it as a gift… it’s a well-designed product!

Munchkin Click Lock {Product Review}

71MMm8ir4EL._SL1500_.jpgThe sippy cup nightmare. BurritoBuzz has posted several sippy cup reviews in the past, and all of us have said the same thing: you’ll buy 20 sippy cups, and you might have ONE that doesn’t leak. It’s definitely not an understatement to say that sippy cup designs are seriously flawed.

So my cupboard is no exception: I have somewhere between 15 and 20 sippy cups/straw cups, and I’m unimpressed with 80% of them.

I purchased this Muchkin Click Lock cup with high hopes. It has handles, a silicon straw, and a weighted straw bottom that sets it apart from the comparison cups. The weighted straw helps when you are training your little one to use a straw cup, as it helps to ensure they are drinking fluid instead of air (because they don’t quite grasp the concept of a cup needing to stay upright yet.)

My initial analysis was mostly good. I loved the double handles and weighted straw. My son caught on quickly with this cup, and it was great for travel since it has a flip down lid.

The cup is easy to clean, and comes apart into 4 pieces. (I can’t stress enough how important it is to fully disassemble sippy cups and bottles since they can grow mold in all the crevices.)

The bad news: this cup leaks A LOT. I can’t quite figure it out, but it seems to be related to the pressure within the cup (maybe changing temperature of the fluid inside.) But the fluid is pushed out the top of the straw in rather large quantities, even when it’s been sitting totally upright. These aren’t just small leaks, it’s about an ounce of fluid sitting on my counter/carpet/couch each time. I’ve mostly stopped using this cup because of the huge clean-up hassle.

This cup isn’t incredibly cheap either. It’ll run you $7-$10, just a few dollars above the average cost for a cup like this (and I purchased a few of them.)

So, overall, I’d avoid this sippy cup. It’s a great design idea, but unfortunately it wasn’t executed very well. Save yourself some clean-up time and purchase one of these alternatives:

Munchkin Miracle 360 Cup71NOJxFadQL._SL1500_

Tommee Tippee Straw Cup

OXO Straw Cup

These alternatives don’t have the weighted straw, but they do the job. The first alternative is for babies a little older that don’t require the handles/straw, and the second and third are really great lightweight training cups with straws

Hopefully Munchkin will soon revise their design and we can rewrite this review!

Let’s go Muchkin engineers!

Sippy Cup Product Review

There is anything but a shortage of sippy cups in our house! We have tried everything under the sun, so I thought I would go ahead and review a few that we have tried! (Because lets be honest, we can’t spend $100 to find the perfect one!)

Avent 12 oz Straw Cups

(9.99 for a 2 pack at Babiesrus)

This cup is technically 18months+ but if your child can suck from a straw this is the way to go.

Philips-AVENT-2-Pack-12--pTRU1-12110392dt

Pros

-It really is leak proof! I filled this cup with water and shook like crazy, and it did pretty well. I don’t think my child could shake hard enough (as I was) to get it to leak.

-The lid twists shut so the straw is protected from germs when not used.

-The size is perfect for tiny hands; he holds it on his own.

Cons

-When cleaning the cup, it comes apart into 5 pieces

-The lid can be a challenge to get on and off…and back together!

over all, we love these cups and our son does too.

Playtex Training Time Lil’ Grippers Straw Trainer

(5.99 for one at Babiesrus)

This cup is for 4months+

Playtex-TrainingTime-BPA-Free-Lil--pTRU1-18024557dt

Pros

-Very easy for little hands to hold

-Teaches child to use a straw

– Doesn’t leak for the most part

Cons

-So many parts to figure out! Not easy to get back together.

-If dropped it WILL leak!

-Not very big

This cup was a really nice cup for us! My son learned to use it very quickly, unfortunately he dropped it once and it broke! We now just use the handles on another Playtex cup, (review for that cup below!) which works really great!

Playtex Anytime (non-insolated)

(6.99 for a 2 pack at Babiesrus)

This cup is for 9months+

Playtex-2-Pack-AnyTime-Spout--pTRU1-8523524dt

Pros

-Leak proof

-Easy to hold

-Easy to clean (only one rubber piece inside)

Cons

-Lid can be hard to get on right

This is our everyday water cup, and is very easy to use! I love that there aren’t a lot of parts to get back together, and they are so easy to keep clean!
