Lorena Canals Washable Rugs {Review}

img_3897When I was pregnant, one of my favorite things to do to prepare for baby was designing the nursery! I love interior design and putting together ideas for a room (I wish my bank account gave me more freedom) and had so much fun getting my oldest daughter’s nursery together. My poor youngest, she’s still bunking in mom and dad’s room. There’s just enough room for her crib, a big dresser and our queen sized bed. But now that the baby is getting older, we’re really looking forward to our girls sharing a room (and getting ours back). When our oldest moved from her crib to a big girl bed, I gave her room a little makeover, new bedding of course, new pictures on the walls, a banner that says her name above her bed, curtains, and other little decorative pieces. But I’ve always wanted a nice sized rug in her room and wanted one even more with her sister always in there and because they’ll soon be sharing a room. I came across the coolest washable rugs from Lorena img_5863Canals for nurseries and for kids’ rooms (for any room, really) and I couldn’t wait to share them with you!

Lorena Canals is an amazing company that started specializing in children’s rugs 12 years ago to offer their customers all of the essentials to enjoy elegant and cozy spaces with all the requirements that moms need for little ones. The rugs undergo an extensive elaboration handmade process based on the selection of the best raw materials, the use of natural dyes, the control of non-child labor (so awesome!) in the production process, and the compliance of quality and safety regulations for children. Literally every tiny detail is purposely thought out. Watch the video below to see how Lorena Canals rugs are made, starting from the very beginning:

As I mentioned above, these rugs are washable! Not only are the styles awesome and the quality is top notch, but you can  wash them! I hesitated spending money on a rug for my daughter’s room when I first gave it a mini makeover, because let’s face it, kids are gross and often make crazy messes and a regular rug would be ruined fast. But a rug that I could just throw in the washing machine when my oldest drops pudding on it (even though she’s not allowed to have food in her room, I still find the evidence) and bluemy youngest happens to find a tube of diaper rash cream and empties the entire thing on it. Is there any better way to wash something? Just roll it up and toss it in the washer! Easy peasy.

I picked the Stars Navy – White ($200) design for my daughter’s room and it is absolutely perfect! The 4’x5’x3’ is the perfect size for the room and it’s honestly like a cloud! It’s so soft, I can only imagine that it gets softer with every wash. My youngest loves to rest her little head on the rug when she needs a break from crawling all over the house. It’s handmade and made for natural dyes and 100% natural cotton. I am in love with this rug and give Lorena Canals a 5 out o5 5 stars. These rugs are incredible and would be in every room in my house if I could afford it! There are so many different designs, shapes and sizes, and prices, the options are endless! Noodle & Boo Skin Care {Review}

If you haven’t noticed (or are a first time reader, in that case – hello!), BurritoBuzz loves finding and sharing new skin care products for baby. I look for products that are hypoallergenic for baby’s delicate skin and with no harmful chemicals. I recently found a fantastic, luxurious skin care line for babies and for mamas that I have to share! Noodle & Boo sent me several samples to try with my four month old and I am in love with every single one of them!

NandBlogo_2

Noodle & Boo is a skin care line designed developed specifically for ultra-sensitive skin. The founder Christine Burger worked with holistic and natural healthcare providers to create products that nourish, protect and replenish delicate and sensitive skin. The ingredients used in Noodle & Boo products are certified organic and derived from natural resources. I love that the products are made in the USA and are manufactured in a pharmaceutical-like environment so the quality is superb. Noodle & Boo also has a complete line just for those with super sensitive skin and eczema.

You can rest easy knowing the products are free from a slew of harmful ingredients:

  • Parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Sulfates
  • PPG’
  • Dyes
  • GMO’s
  • Triclosan
  • Formaldehyde Donors
  • Bisphenol A (BPA)
  • Essential Oilsgift_newborn_deluxe_detail

The first thing I noticed (and loved) was the smell of the products. It’s the epitome of what a baby smells like. They somehow bottled the smell of a newborn and it is fantastic. I received four amazing samples, Noodle & Boo Newborn 2-in-1 Hair & Bodywash (8oz for $14), Super Soft Lotion (8oz for $14), Ultimate Ointment (2.5oz for $15) and Baby Balm (4.5oz for $16). I love all of the products I got to try. The hair and body wash gets my little babe clean, even in all of her rolls (and there are a lot!) and keeps her smelling great. The lotion keeps her skin hydrated, soft and smooth all day. She’s had a few dry patches on her elbows, I’m really hoping it’s not eczema (it’s not bad, so I don’t know if it is or not) and I applied the Baby Balm which provides long-lasting moisture and comforts irritated skin. I love that it’s super thick and after using for a few days, the dry patches have subsided for the most part! The Ultimate Ointment is perfect for diaper rashes, dry skin or eczema as gift_big_sister_brother_detailwell. It creates a moisture repellant to promote natural healing of rashes. I use it for the rash on my little one’s neck. Her rolls are trapping moisture and the Ohio heat has caused a heat rash. The ointment has helped tremendously.

I love Noodle & Boo products and I would love to try more, especially products for mama! The only issue, is the price. This is a luxury brand (so many celebrities swear by Noodle & Boo, check out their testimonials and who loves Noodle & Boo here!) so the cost is a little high but totally doable if you want high quality products. Be sure to check out Noodle & Boo’s website here. They seriously have so many awesome products to offer for both baby and mom!super_soft_lotion_detail

Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent {Review}

When you have kids, you want to find the best possible products to use on and around them. You don’t want unnecessary chemicals and synthetic materials to be used around your precious little ones, whether it’s cleaning supplies, skin care products or something as simple as laundry detergent. I never really put much thought into the type of 41d4UiaXwwL._AC_UL320_SR198,320_detergent I was using until I was given a few samples of Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent right before my youngest was born. It made me rethink (and ultimately switch laundry soaps) what I was using to wash our clothes with.

Seventh Generation’s laundry detergent is awesome. It allows me to wash all of our clothes together, including my infant and toddler’s clothing. Because it is so gentle, I feel really good about washing my baby’s clothing in a detergent that gets her clothing clean and keeps her clothes free of harmful chemicals. Seventh Generation laundry detergent comes in several different types of soap (in liquid or powder form), including a new detergent specifically meant for baby’s delicate skin (which I love a million times more than Dreft, as I cannot stomach it’s strong fragrance). It cleans in all water temperatures and it has enzymes that lift stubborn stains, which we all know are inevitable with babies and kids (and adults, too).

IT’S NATURAL!Seventh-Generation-logo

  • Designed for Standard and HE machines
  • Free of dyes & synthetic fragrances
  • USDA Certified Biobased 97%
  • Supports sustainable palm oil
  • Works in all temperatures
  • 2x concentrated formula
  • Hypoallergenic

I give it a 5 out of 5 stars. I was impressed from the very first wash and have been a customer ever since. If you want a detergent that is truly harmless for your family, Seventh Generation is the way to go. And it works, which is what we all want in the end: fresh clean clothes for the whole family. It keeps clothes clean and our skin free of harmful chemicals. It’s a win-win for everyone! Click here order Seventh Generation detergent online or find out where to buy in-store here!seventh-generation-products-amazon-warehouse

Be sure to follow Seventh Generation on Instagram, on Facebook and on Twitter! And don’t forget to check out all of Seventh Generation’s family-friendly products here! I also only use their plant-based natural hand soaps, the fresh lemon & tea tree scent is to die for! Seventh Generation also makes Free & Clear diapers and baby wipes and I have to say, the diapers are very absorbent and the wipes are nice and thick, they’re great at cleaning up yucky messes!

La Petite Crème {Product Review}

Until recently, I didn’t know that French moms don’t use baby wipes. Instead, they use a diaper lotion that cleanses and also protects tiny bottoms. I found La Petite Crème on Instagram a few months ago and I couldn’t wait to imagetry their product when my baby was born. Founded by 2 French natives and mothers, Franny and Cecile, La Petite Crème aims to fight diaper rash naturally. Free of parabens, talc, petrolatum, fragrances and hypoallergenic makes it a safe choice for babies with even the most sensitive skin.

It’s so easy to apply, too. After shaking well, apply to a cotton pad or wash cloth and cleanse diaper area and you’re done! No need to imagerinse off. La Petite Crème keeps harmful chemicals away from your baby’s delicate skin while also keeping baby wipes out of the landfill. Since I started using it on my 5 week old, she has yet to have any type of diaper rash or even the slightest redness. A little goes a long way as well so the bottle can last a good amount of time which will save you money. And it’s completely safe to use on cloth diapers! All in all, this imageproduct is fantastic. I am so glad I found them, I’m so happy to share them with our readers! Check out their website here to learn more and to order!

6 Sassy Sistas Skin Serum {Product Review}

image

6 Sassy Sistas is a unique company that has created a natural skin serum that is 99.98% chemical free. The serum is a highly moisturizing product that can be used for a number of purposes to include makeup removal, cuticle care, natural soothing properties (think bug bites and rashes), a carrier for essential oils and several other uses. A natural product to help pamper mama? Um yes, sign us up! We split up a few samples between the mamas here at Burrito Buzz and used the serums for several different purposes. Here is how we used them and what we had to say!

1. Bug Bites– I (Chelsea) was recently at a BBQ and got tore up by mosquitos! I could not stop itching my ankles and legs even after using a Benadryl stick to try to calm the irritation. I decided to try my sample on the bites and I could not believe how soothing it was! The itching stopped immediately and lasted throughout the night. Definitely impressive for a natural product that isn’t even specifically designed for bug bites. Loved  it!

2. Cuticle Care– Amanda used her sample on her cuticles. I think her results speak for themselves. She said “I loved the serum as a cuticle oil and moisturizer. It created a great barrier for dried crack skin, without having to re-apply too often.”

image

3.Makeup Removal– Kirstyn and I both tried out the serum as a makeup remover. I personally use a liquid liner and a 24 hour mascara. I also absolutely HATE every eye makeup remover that I’ve tried so far because I have extremely sensitive eyes and they always leave me feeling greasy and with a burning sensation. However, we both agreed that the serum was AWESOME for eye makeup removal! It removed the makeup with one drop of serum, no burning, irritation or greasy feeling.

4. Rash and Irritation– Kirstyn used the serum to treat irritated skin. Here’s what imageshe had to say: “I recently had a mole removed from my neck and the doctor instructed that it needed to stay covered. I am allergic to band-aids and even the sensitive skin ones make me break out. As you can see in the before picture there is a red “rash” type square around the cut. I applied the serum to the rash area before bed and in the morning it was gone, not itchy and the swelling had gone down as well.”

5. Overall Moisturizer– Finally, I also tried the serum as a hand and after-shave moisturizer. Loved it. My fragrance, Toes in the Water, Toosh in the Sand, smelled incredible but not overwhelming. It left my hands and legs soft but not greasy and lasted as long as a typical lotion would.

Megan had this to say about the moisturizing effects: “I used it on one of my heels and then compared it to the other. Definately made a difference right away and really didn’t require reapplication. I had the gummy bear scent, wasn’t wild about it, but I’m sure there are better scents that aren’t as strong. I’m anxious to see how well it helps my hands as the weather eventually gets colder and air dryer. I wash/sanitize my hands constantly between home and work. I’m sure it will work great there too”

In regards to using it as a carrier for essential oils, Amanda sampled the “Fragrance Free” serum and had this to say:

“I used the unscented and found it to be heavily scented with almost a vicks smell. So, I didn’t use with my EO’s because it completely masked the smell of my oils. Also, imageunlike other carrier oils you would typically use for EO’s, this was heavier and left a residue. It probably would have helped my LO’s cradle cap, but I wasn’t sure about putting it on him, with such a strong scent for being ‘unscented’. Great concept, and great for mommies, but not something I personally would purchase.”

So we each had a different take on the product. Kirstyn and I are already planning our order because we loved it so much but Amanda chose to pass. Just like babies, every mama is different. If you’re looking for a great smelling, chemical-free product that can be used for several different purposes, try this product!!

These would make great stocking stuffers and 6 Sassy Sistas kindly offered our readers a Promo Code for 10% off: sassydani

Off to go jumpstart my Christmas shopping….
